I think we should make two wall size ones because then there is two people that can win something, not just one! I can't wait to make a square!! This was a fantastic idea YorkyDiva!!!! |
You know that another option is a lap quilt. They are perfect size for on the back of a couch or for watching movies. |

I agree. I think that after we all finish our square/squares we should put in a couple of dollars with the square so when we mail it, the end person will have enough money to put everything together!! |
So are we just making the top of the quilt and then passing it along for someone else to quilt it, or can we make the block in it's entirety? Meaning backing, stuffing and top. We'd have to decide what filler to use. Are we just going to make any design on the quilt, or will there be a theme? |

Sounds cool. Count me in to help with a square (with some directions of course) and with buying raffle tickets. I think we can wait to decide on the size of the quilt depending on how many participants we get in to the project. This project rocks and it yet again shows how many good people we have here on YT. I think avoiding white at least for the backing would be a good idea - especially if creating a quilt to actually use as a lap covering. If I could do the photo block easily I would participate. But unfortunately I know nothing about quilting. Definitely a ticket-buyer :D |
Count me in here in Gilbert, SC. I'll get my mother to help, she's made several quilts in her time. I know I'll do a square and buy tickets. It may be nice if in each square we had room to put where your from so we could see how many states are represented. Just a thought. I'll watch for updates. |
Don't forget to PM me your addresses so I can send you a square to work on. I'm going to look at fabric for the squares this weekend. No white:) Maybe a light tan? Does anybody know someone who could quilt the top to the bottom when it's finished? |
If it's a small quilt I am sure that I can figure out how to do it. I have not sewn the quilts together in years, but I have all the tools to do it. It just can't be very big. |

I heard from YorkieDiva this morning and there has been no word from Admin yet. Maybe they're just checking to make sure it's OK for us to continue. Does anyone who's posted here want to PM them again? |
I love making quilts. I am a little confused, are we not choosing our own fabric for the square? Are we limited to one square. My favorite quilts to make are memory quilts. I have actually designed scrapbook like pages before they go on the quilt. I would however, suggest that if pictures are being put on it to tie knot it. I have seen quilts with pics that have been quilted and it really ruins the look of the picture block. When people want my quilts quilted, my mom and I simply follow the seams of the quilt and blocks. That way it does not interfere with the pics. I also keep the squares no bigger than 8 inches. If people want pics on the quilt, they could be sent to me and I can transfer them for everyone . After a couple dozen quilts, I have it down to a pretty good science. I only use one type of paper because I do not like the rest on the market and I use one particular fabric. Do we need someone to sew the quilt together and add the batting and backing? I would be willing to do that. |
