| ![]() The only reason why i refered to him as it is because his name is not in English, its that simple. His life is a bit different now. When we are home but don't have time to play with him, he is a in a washroom on the main floor with a gate so he can't come out but he can see us. We have his crate moved there and pee pads too. Washroom is a bit small imo but he should be happier in a smaller room as long as he can see us. He sleeps in one room in the basement and plays in another, they are connected once i open the door. Q. Should i cut his nails yet at 8 weeks? He was born on July 21. Q. What shampoo brand would you recommend? There are ones with conditioner all in one, or does it not matter? |

I use Fresh & Clean Oatmeal & Baking Soda Shampoo and Conditioner (seperate). It leaves her coat soft and shiny and it smells good -like a dryer sheet! I've hear a lot of people recommend a shampoo called Mink Sheen but I've never seen it. I bathe Lacy once a week

You say that you are using news papers for the training, just so you know, a puppy using news paper may defecate on a news paper whether it is on the floor or not,so keep all newspapers not being used as the potty area up so the pup does not get confused about were to go. Example would be If the puppy should be up on the couch and a news paper is setting there and he "goes" do not scold him because he is only doing what he was taught to do. I should be getting my little boy sometime late December so I was looking into paper training first, because of the weather here in Ohio can get nasty , I was going to use news paper as well, but I think I am going to use wee wee pads that are scented my boy's help on a paper rout with their friend next door once every other month when they go out of town, and they roll the papers here at my house and I do not want any accidents to happen!! ![]() Good luck with your little guy! Hope you post some pictures for us to see, we LOVE puppy pictures!! | |

| ![]() Hey Kevin, welcome to YT. I'm glad you are enjoying your new puppy. As has already been said, housebreaking take tons of patience. Some yorkies learn fast but as a rule, they are one of the hardest breeds to house train. Your puppy really doesn't need the amount of space you are giving him. They are so little that they are fine in a smaller space and he's probably sleeping most of the time you are away. You might see faster results with an x-pen. When I was training Sugar, I covered the whole bottom of the x-pen with potty pads and gradually took them away, one by one until there was only one left. It worked for us because that way at first, Sugar didn't have any other option but to use the potty pad and as we decreased the amount, he was used to using them and just went to them. Good luck. Can't wait to see pictures of the little guy.

| ![]() Hi and welcome. Riley had dry skin when she was very young so I used an oatmeal shampoo. It will help soothe your puppy's skin and reduce the dryness. Just recently did I switch both girls over to Minksheen which you will find is highly recommended by members here. It has a wonderful scent, natural ingredients, and serves as a natural insect repellent. And I agree... will you please share his name? We love the unusual!! |
