| ![]() I had the absolute worst experience at the vet!!!!!! I called 2 emergency vets and they both said that it was a hypoglycemic seizure and that I shoudn't worry about taking him in if I was giving him nutrical. That's why I posted about whether I should take him or not. So when he didn't stop I just started going. Got to the 1 emergency vet that I didn't call, and the first thing they say to me is that they need payment before they can do anything. That should have been a red flag but he was still shaking and the others were so much farther away that I wasn't taking any chances. So I pay the money and they finally take him back. The vet tech came in and Linus got so scared that he peed on the table. Then, the tech examined him and took his temperature (103.4 very high). The vet then proceeded to wipe the anal thermometer with a paper towel and placed it back into the drawer. He then gave me Linus and wiped his pee off with a paper towel (no cleaning whatsoever). The doctor comes in and looks him over and says that they need to do blood work. Fine with me...but before they would do it I had to write them another check. Because Linus is still shaking, I do it. They then took him back to get his bloodwork, and it made me pretty angry that they wouldn't let me come back with him. I'm standing in the hallway with 2 doors in between him and me, and I can hear him screaming like I have never heard before. He did that 7 TIMES! They only needed 2 things of blood so I don't know what happened to him back there. The vet then brings him back out CARRYING HIM BY HIS NECK!!!!!! I was so pissed off at this point that I had to go outside before I killed somone. Bryan took care of whatever needed to be, and we waited for the blood results. The vet tech comes back out and has the audacity to tell me that his bloodwork is normal when I can clearly see that it isn't by looking at the paper in his hand. He tells me it's either a hypoglycemic seizure or a behavior problem. A behavior problem???????? Who in their right mind would think that I don't know what my dog does when he gets cold!?!? So at this point, I just wanted out of there. He's quit shaking, but won't eat even his favorite foods. So I keep pushing some nutrical into his mouth and Bryan is on his way to but a syringe so we can give him water so he doesn't get dehydrated. He's exhausted, and walking around like he doesn't recognize where he is. I'm keeping a very close eye on him, and if anything gets worse I will speed down the highway to another 24 hour vet to get him treated. Believe me, my vet will be on my phone the minute they open in the morning. As for now, we are watching and praying that things don't get worse. What a night! Sorry to vent but I am so mad right now I can't stand it. The sad thing is that we got bad news yesterday when we went to the vet. Linus has collapsing trachea syndrome and luxating patella (neither of which are serious enough to warrant treatment right now, but could get worse). Poor baby has been through so much. Thanks for all of the good thoughts! I really appreciate everyone here!

| ![]() OMG How did you keep from hitting that vet? He sounds very cold and uncaring. I am glad the shaking has stopped and hope he continues to get better tonight. Behavior problems - wow. I am mad for you right now. Geez, why do people with that attitude bother becoming a vet?! Well, you take care of your baby and I'll be mad and think bad thoughts about the vet for you.

| ![]() Oh...poor baby Linus. Did the blood paperwork say something that made you think it wasn't okay? What did it say? When he was "shaking violently" was it "shaking like he is cold" or was it shaking like a seizure where it is more jerky and the eyes roll back in the head and they fall over and all? I have heard that too much nutrical can be bad too and can actually bring on a hypoglycemia attack. I don't mean to be conusing and I am not a vet but my first breeder told me this. The syringe feeding is the way to go in my opinion if he hasn't eaten in 4 hours. Mix baby rice cereal with pedialyte and corn starch until it is like soft oatmeal and give him 3 syringe fulls (3 ccs) every 3-4 hours along with pedialyte to keep him hydrated. It is always so scary when these puppies act strangely and we don't know what to do and the vet is no help. Good luck and keep us posted. |

| ![]() It didn't seem like a "seizure" to me. He was shaking like he was cold, but it's hot in our house, nothing was around to scare him, and he wasn't angry. It was really strange thing to happen, that is why I got so concerned. That's so weird about the nutrical thing. He gets nutrical as a treat once every 3-4 days based on how much he's eaten and how hard he's played, just to prevent something like this from happening. I'll keep that in mind next time! As far as his bloodwork, his creatin level was high, and so was something else. They were highlighted in red, how hard is it to notice. It just seemed weird when he said everything was completely normal when it wasn't. My regular vet has a copy of it, and I'm calling him when he opens in the morning. Thanks for the tip on what to feed him. I'm so scared that this is going to happen again in the middle of the night and that time I'm not going to be there.
