| i know exactly how you feel! all my parents' friends whenever they come over to our house for dinner or something .. all their kids will go into my room (even if I am not there .. which pisses me off more) and will try to find kikko to play with him. When they are around, I usually put him in my room, lock the door, and tell them he's sleeping. The only time I let them touch kikko is when i'm holding him in my lap and i'm able to tell them to just pet him. then when i think he's had enough i tell the kids i have to put him away b/c he's tired or something. iunno i have just seen way too many kids try to hold them and they fall, pull their ears, chase them around (which can ultimately make the dog feel cornered and threatened), iunno i never feel that comfortable with little kids b/c they may not be aware of their strength and limitations, and are not able to read the dogs behaviour quick enough something could happen.

| I know EXACTLY what you mean, I just wish that they would leave us alone! The other day I was walking them back from the park and there was a little girl (maybe 6yrs?) walking behind me with her mother and I suddenly heard Malachi yelp, the child had pulled his tail and grabbed him towards her! He was really scared, the mother coulden't understand why I was annoyed, she thought it was perfectly acceptable. I was thinking, I know that he's really friendly but the mother diden't know that. If he had turned round and bitten her it would of been seen as my fault! I just wish more parents would teach their kids how to respect animals. |

Kids ask questions to learn! I have no problem with answering good manor children, when they ask me questions about my Yorkies. I also have twin boys who are six and they are so gentle but they were taught since little to respect My own children are very protective of there dogs, they tell the other children that no one is allowed to pet or pick them up, because they are to tiny...It really is cute to see them so protective I think that it's the parents fault on how the children react to the animals Even though I have my own children I get upset with children that just grab at my babies. My children always ask permission to even walk up to a dog and let me tell you they are big time dog lovers, all shapes and sizes Also I always say my furbabies bite, just because children don't no any better and I wouldn't trust any child unless he has been raised or educated on this delicate breed..JMO..
