| Community dogs special day! Yesterday we took a little trip up north and stopped to check out a small town that we have always wanted to look over but never had much time to do so. It reminds me of a Norman Rockwell town. Anyway we noticed some dogs playing in one of the public pools and stopped to check it out. I found out that once a year the dogs get their day in the pool the day before they close it for the winter. I wanted to let my girls go in the kiddie pool but there were only big dogs in each pool. One little ol lady who was sitting in a chair towel drying her little poodle said the big dogs were pulling her baby around by her ears and she would advise not letting mine in with them. I think they should at least let the little guys have their "own" time first, before the big ones. Anyway I snapped a few pictures. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...n9-8-07006.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...n9-8-07005.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...n9-8-07004.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...n9-8-07003.jpg |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | They do that in our area too and I was thinking the same thing - too many big dogs to mess with our little munchins. They should have a special time just for the little dog - I may write to the chairperson in charge of this event - maybe you can do the same for next year. The pics are cool though - looks like they were all having a blast.

| Looks like they were having a blast. They do need a place for the small babies.

| They do that every year at the Beach waterpark in Ohio too. On the last day they are open they open it up for the dogs. We usually go but we are getting ready to go on vacation so we are not going this year. Our yorkies love going. There are always more big dogs there too but I have never had one bother my dogs.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Yep, I just saw on the news recently that they did that here too. And yep, all I saw swimming were the bigger breed dogs. Equal time for the little ones please!

| Our town just discontinued it at the last minute this year. The article said that more and more cities are discontinuing it for health reasons??? They completely clean the pool afterward and require proof of immunizations anyways. And besides, I've heard of a lot more people getting sick after swimming where PEOPLE were swimming than where dogs swam 6 months and a complete cleaning before!!

| Oh how NEAT! What a really cool idea. Wouldn't it be fun if there were public pools for dogs -- maybe a bone shaped pool in the doggie park? |
