| Winstin went for a ride today and...... We had to take our lab in to have staples removed from an emergency surgery a couple weeks ago. Winstin rode along. Our third dog is getting groomed. I weighed him at the vets and he is 3.3 pounds. He had an appointment at the vet almost three weeks ago (three weeks this Friday)and he was 2.6 pounds. How much do you think he will weigh when he is done growing?? I have never seen his parents so I feel clueless. I was told by someone around five or seven pounds. Because he was the smaller of the two (both were boys and only two in litter) When do they stop gaining weight and growing. I am just used to big dogs and am curious. Jen Here I am giving one of my big sisters a kiss!!! |

| That picture is precious! Most small breed dogs are done growing by 6-7 months. If they are late bloomers they may take 8-9 months. I've even heard of some growing until they 12 months. Abby is only 5 months and I'm 99% sure she almost done growing, judging by her parent's weights. Her dad was 3.5 pounds and mom was 4.5. Right now she weighs 3.9 at 5 months. I've also heard that you can take their weight at 12 weeks and double it and that will be their final weight, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Thanks. If that twelve weeks is right he should be around 6.6. Makes me wonder how much taller he will get. I wish I had seen his parents. It is making me cazy. | |

| Thanks for the replies. I just keep trying to imagine him in a few months and it's hard to do. I guess he is a little squirt next to my two retrievers that weigh around 75 pounds. Do't get me wrong I am not trying to make him grow up. I only hope he stays as sweet as he is when he is older. He is a love bug! |

| You can't go by his parents weight anyway. Winstin is adorable.

| Of course you can't go by the parent weights, but it can give you some type of guidelines to give you an idea. But it doesn't always work. But I do think the 12 week thing works.. Abby was 2.2 pounds at 12 weeks and she's getting close to the 4 pound mark at 5 months old.

| Thanks Everyone! I know to that parents do not give perfect info. But it would have been nice to see them and compare once he is all grown up. We measured him today when we went to my moms. He is seven inches tall. I just can not believe how much fun he is. I wanted one for a long time and was clueless to the fun we would have together. He means the world to me and then some. I am sure you all understand! |
