| ![]() My point is....I can call them anything I want, but for a stranger to approach me that way....oh no. That's just wrong.

Donating YT 11K Club Member | ![]() I don't take it personally when someone says it cause the people that have said it i know and know they are joking, sometimes it is annoying though. However if someone i didnt know said it and they weren't laughing, like they said it rudely then i would be offended, it's all in the way they say it.

| ![]() I call Mr. Biggs a rat all the time too, but if someone else were to come up to me and say "how much did that rat cost you?" That would royally piss me off. It's not like you go up to a persons child and say "why'd you have that thing". That sounded like a negative comment towards your dog and I don't blame you for taking it that way and getting upset.

| ![]() It is still rude of her to call your little one "a rat". I would have walked off too. Good for you.only so much one can take sometimes.

| ![]() Someone said "oh I see you got a hamster" when Zoey was a baby. I guess that is a little better than rat.

| ![]() There is a huge difference between me calling my yorkie rat or someone I know Jokingly calling my dog a rat and a stranger calling my dog a rat (unless you can just really tell they are joking). Was the neighbor joking? From your post I took it as she was kindof saying it in a derogatory way. Those of you with real children - wouldn't you think someone was rude if they came up and called your kid a brat or a rat? Same thing with our dogs - it's rude to walk up to a stranger and call their dog a rat. They don't even look like rats!! Who came up with that anyway??

| ![]() hmmm ... i am the same as some pple on here ... its oky if I say/call kikko a rat (i prefer the word monster.. haha .. IMO he could never look like a rat) or someone i alreayd know and know that they meant it in a joking manner... but if a stranger said that, i would be peeved... prolly ask them politely and in a joke/cute way (buuut isn't it like 90% of a joke is the truth .. some number iunno) to not refer them to a rat and proceed with the conversation. however, if your sister's neighbor wants one, why would she refer to something that she wants a rat? so i don't think she meant any harm. but you prolly got mad b/c i'm sure its not the first time that's happened to you and it was an automatic response .. b/c we've all encountered those pple who really DO mean it when calling our babies 'rats'... so its understandable you know? so don't worry about it. ![]()

Donating YT 14K Club Member | ![]() That was extremely rude of the neighbor! That's like calling someone's skin kid a name. Not good! ![]()
