The point, in my opinion, of this thread getting the life it got, was that these wrong colours etc are not 'rare' as in desirable but are just that, wrong colour and SHOULD NOT ever be sold for exhorbitant prices to people who think they are cute which they certainly can be but neither rare nor desirable and certainly should a show breeder produce one will give it to a good home or sell for a very low price. If somene wants to buy a chocolate, tricolour whatever go ahead but go into it with some knowledge of what it is you are actually buying. |
[QUOTE=Lorraine;1348073]Actually they wouldn't or you would see a lot more tri coloured yorkies. QUOTE] Maybe not ... prior to AKC allowing the parti color to be registered, these off colors were hidden, given away, or disposed of - they were just a dirty secret. But now that they are eligible for registration, many feel there is no reason to hide this beautiful color from the public, only hidden from the show ring. |
I was wondering is it a good possibility that a 'parti' yorkie becoming a breed on its own? I mean can someone post a site or their knowledge on how a biewer became its own breed and how people first thought of them when they were first bred?... I'm trying to bring in all about yorkies into my head:D . |

I am amazed at the multitude of knowledge aobut show breeders from people are aren't show breeders nor do they have anything to do with them, never been at their homes never spoken to them as friends and yet seem to have intimate knowledge of what shows up in their whelping box. this is sure all news to me and I would bet news to the show breeders.:D :D |
I think biewers and partis are different?? |
Oh i forgot to add... maybe the parti yorkie ancestor was a champion but didn't get the gene from them but the other side:rolleyes: ... ***Maybe not. Just thinking aloud*** |

The fact is that most off colored yorkie lines, originated from champion blood lines. It really doesn't matter what irresponsible person bred the off colored offspring. The Champions were the ones that carried the gene. And you have no way of knowing that your dogs do not carry the gene, because there is no way of testing for that. And you can try blaming it on the dog that the champion was bred to, but the fact is the gene has to be in both parents in order to produce the off colored pup. So if there are two champion lines involved, then both lines have the gene. I'm not blaming anyone for anything. Facts are facts. Don't make this personal just because you don't like the facts. There is no one to blame for anything. The first parti colored yorkie registered by the AKC, "Niko's Mickey Spillane" had a champion sire. |

BTW in case you didn't know already, the Biewers are only recognized by the German Biewer Club not the German Kennel Club. I know Yorkie people in Germany and know breeders here who are good friends with Yorkie people in Germany. |

I rather the breeder be honest and come right out and say "My champion dog produced this off colored pup and that is why I am finding it a new home." |

It would be wonderful if it were considered it's own breed with it's own standard and own National Club. |

I wish people would get to know the show world before they get into speaking what they consider to be 'facts'. You have to know the show world to know how things occur. I have seen many byb's in show clothes by the way and they are not show breeders I would deal with ever. There are show breeders and then there are show breeders. Unfortunately some not so reputable show breeders got their hands on some mighty fine lines and dragged those through the mud. Having said all that, of course, anyone can produce a wrong colour, blaiming it on champions and saying that's where it came from is why most show breeders who are reputable will not let their dogs go or be studded to non show breeders or show breeders they are not sure of, because they could very well be breeding to something that can be carrying any anomoly and it will be the show breeder that gets the blame. I believe the AKC relented and registered parti colours because someone somewhere who had them sued AKC and they had more money than AKC was willing to spend to fight it out in court. Initially, AKC turned applications down flat for particolour YOrkies. It was not this dog you mentioned and I have no idea who the parti colour breeder was. |

Did you know that there are many of us within YTCA having our yorkies DNA's to find the DNA marker for Liver Shunt....you call that keeping things a secret. We want a healthy breed and we'll do whatever is necessary to make it as such |
