| ![]() Hi all! I am a new member of Yorkie Talk and I'm excited to be here ![]() Not only that, but whenever we come accross another person, another dog, someone on a bicycle/skateboard/etc. she goes nuts jumping and barking and growling. I am looking for some suggestions on how to get her to settle down. She loves going for walks, but her behavior can be so frustrating that it discourages me from taking her. HELP! |

| ![]() First off... ![]() ![]() ![]() I have a 6 month old and she also gets very excited and will pull when ever she sees someone or another dog.... I too would like to get some input...with my lil one I think it might be a bit of her age and socialization as I am at work all day long and she doesn't get out for a walk that much...

| ![]() What about using a head halter? They make them small enough for yorkies.

| ![]() Change direction every time she pulls, she will soon get bored of walking up and down the same patch and will learn that if she wants to get to the park then she has to walk nicely. Also, once in somewhere safe like the park, is she getting any off lead time? Only this may help alot because she can run off all her energy and stop being frustrated with how slow your going lol.

| ![]() I use the Halti (I think that's what it is) Harness. It's not the one that goes on the face. I only have to use it once in a while for my Tinka. When they start to pull, it redirects them towards YOU, where they are supposed to be paying attention. ![]() |

| ![]() I think what you are referring to is actually the "Sensi-Harness". I use one for my one year old that pulls alot and it really does help. Just a word of warning though -- I put it on my 4 year old who has some trachea issues and she started to cough right away! Here's the link to their website: http://www.softouchconcepts.com/prod...e_harness.html Quote:

| ![]() I think you need to give less leash. Hold the leash beside you not in front of you. You can see a good example of that if you watch the dog whisperer

| ![]() I think you got a lot of good ideas. Now picking which one to use is the question. Penny's nuts on a leash, and Piper prances like he's a king.
