New Yorkie owner Hi I'm a new yorkie owner. She is 9 weeks old and her name is Kiki. I haven't had a dog in the house for ten years so I need all the help I can get! I'm so glad I found this forum. My first question is her ears are not standing up. Should they at this age? The breeder said tape them up and make sure I keep the back of them shaved. Just didn't know if it matter at this stage or if some just never stand up. Will post pictures of her later. Thanks!

| Welcome to YT. A lot of the little one's ears don't stand up right away. Keep the hair short around the ears.

Hi! Welcome to YT! I wanna see pics of your new baby. Yes, you are supposed to keep the ears shaved when the pups are young so they don't get weighted down.

Welcome to YT, like somebody else said it's important to trim the hair on the ears to help them to stand up. Sometimes if the puppy's ears are not too large they can stand up by themselves just with a little trimming, and sometimes they have to get taped up. You trim on third down the ear starting from the top and trim the hair around the edges. In any case they will probably get a little floppy when she starts teething. Stick around here, I'm sure you'll learn a lot about yorkies and have fun at the same time. Rubi, Jennie and pussy cat Mimosin

I am also a new yorkie owner. Aly is almost 6 months old. I have no idea what I am doing most of the time. I just take it day by day. Hopefully I can learn some things from here!
