That's what I was going to suggest if you didn't want to give up your right to a safe dog park. Depending on how quickly the authorities arrive, your "dog pack" might be seeing that you're frustrated and packing up and leaving before they get there. But if you made a drive by, saw that they were there, called the authorities, gave them a few minutes to get there, before actually "arriving" at the dog park. It's sort of a set up, but it might be a better chance of resolving the problem.

I find this method works for me as well. I was taught this years ago by somebody I worked under. He told me that if you don't get what you want,
call the CEO, owner, Mayor, whatever. Then back it up with an email which is a legal document. The police don't care obviously.

I would probably do what yapper suggested and try to introduce myself to the people and try to develop some sort of relationship with them and let them know it makes you nervous when their dogs approach you, your sister, or your dogs. I'm not one for confrontation either, so if this doesn't work I would try to go to higher powers or leave the park. I've had to quit walking my dogs in my neighborhood because of unleashed dogs approaching us in what appears to me to be an "aggressive" manner. Luckily, I have a large back yard so they get enough exercise, but Otis REALLY loved his walks.

I had this problem when we were staying over the coastal area. I used to get so mad I would pick up Rocco and Sissy and leave. Big dogs ,off leash would come running at us full force and their owners would say "It's Ok he/she is friendly" Uh NO! It is not OK .One day I got so angry I picked my two up and yelled across at them saying" Ya know, it isn't really fair to the rest of us here ,you choosing to avoid the leash law .Signs were posted everywhere.They looked at me like I was nuts. I went home looked up our city website and wrote a letter the next morning I received a very nice letter and went to the park a few days later and they were patrolling it and issuing citations.

I know what you mean about the larger dogs moving in on your dogs. I took my dog's to a dog park in Colorado. It seems everyone there has large dogs running around going banannas. My little male just growled and snapped at any large dog that came by him. My dog is not mean, just has a Napoleon complex. Anyway, I took them to the park for several days, trying to desensitize them. They got a little better, but were still nervous about all the other big dogs towering over them. Finally, I would only take them when the other big dogs weren't there. I think they enjoyed the walk to the dog park better than the actual dog park! Anyway, we're back in Michigan and there are no dog parks here!

Ugh that makes me so mad when police dont do anything about situations! Here's what I did when my boyfriend and I had a situation that the the Police needed to be called...

... First we called the police and then drove to a spot where we could see the person we called the police on to see if anything was going to be done with the situation.

After Forty five minutes of waiting we decided to leave. While we left i called the dispatcher again and let him know a peice of my mind for not showing up.

He claimed there was an officer there within and minute which was untrue and i told him it was untrue because we sat there and watched.

So thats exactly what i would do in this situation go there if the dogs are still unleashed tell the dispatcher the situation and stay there and wait. If nothing is done call again and explain the situation again and tell him/her that you had called before and hadnt seen anything done.

Im sorry you have to deal with this, people are just rude sometimes. Good luck.

Not to be mean but.....take you dog to another park. This can't be the only park around and you know what goes on there....why put yourself or your dogs through this all the time. Go elsewhere because it seems like the other people don't plan on changing their routine. Not sure why you keep going back.

My sister lives in Dallas and she has a little Yorkie mix who is almost 11 yrs. old. She takes her to the park all the time and Sabrina is always leashed. This last time she took her, this guy pulled up and his three Dobermans got out of his car OFF LEASHES and rushed her. One grabbed her dog and she literally had to pull her up by the leash and into her arms as the Doberman then jumped up on her to bite Sabrina. My sister was screaming and the guy was yelling all kinds of commands that they paid no mind to. She was screaming at him and he was yelling I called to you to tell you that they were not friendly. He was blaming her, even though his dogs were the ones unleashed and who attatcked. She was so distraught that she never got the guys ID or license number. Just rushed Sabrina to the vet who said she was very lucky.

Do yourself a favor and report the the idiots, before yours or someone elses dog / cat gets hurt. People are just stupid.

I agree. Keep records of your police calls, and either ask to speak to the captain, or go straight to the mayor's office. You pay the police to protect you, and if they won't do their job speak to someone who will.
