| Flopped ears from teething? Is it true that when Yorkies are teething, their ears flop? If so between what ages does this happen? My Yorkie's ears were up when he was yonger and now he is 8 months and his ears are down. I wanted to know if it was just cause he is teething because I don't want to have to cut the hair on his ears. I heard it could be cause his ears are too heavy from the hair, but I like the hair on his ears I'm hoping they will come back up when he is done teething??? |

If you want the ears to stand, you should shave the hair on the top 1/2 of his ears. Milli's will still flop if they get too furry. If you leave them flopped for too long, you will need to tape or otherwise support them in order for them to come back up. He should be done teething by the time he is 8 months old...hasn't he lost all his teeth yet? Both my furgirls were done teething by 6 months old.

| Whatever you do, DO NOT TAPE THE EARS!!!! CoCo had a bad experience with it, and the people I have talk to says if they are ment to stand up then you shave them and they stand if not they are not ment to stand!!!! CoCo got an infection from taping and lost half an ear because the vet didnt know what he was doing . Needless to say I switched vets after that, because she lost half an ear!!!!!! But I repeate DO NOT TAPE THE EARS!!!!!! |

| They fly about all over the place during teething, they will probably pop back up soon.

| when i went to see Cai my little boy that got stolen, his ears were taped up..it looked awful, and i thought it was a bit cruel...but if you want to show then they have to be upright and it strengthens the muscles... I had a Geraman shepherd years ago, and he had a problem with one falling all the time...the vet taped it up...and it worked, but then after a few months it would fall..in the end my dad left him, he said it was cruel that he had to keep on at his ears... My little girls ears dont stand...and i would not tape them as i have no intention of showing her..its just the way she is.

| Thanks guys for all your help, I shaved the top of his ears last night and they look like they are starting they look like they are starting to come up. Also, I looked in his mouth and there was a really wiggly tooth that was practically hanging there I pushed on it and it fell out! Ha ha! I guess he was teething! |
