| I want a DNA test! LOL..(not really) I took Bob to the vet for his annual shots and checkup..He did great and the vet was pleased with how he looked..I said, "Do you really think he is a Yorkie?"..The vet said.."Sometimes Yorkies get really big..sure, he just might be"...SO we proceeded to the scales and he weighed 19.5 lbs! He gained 4.5 pounds over the past year... We walked out to the waiting room to pay and there sat a couple with 2 baby yorkies...So cute! The man says to his wife, "Hun, there is a silky.." He was talking about Bob...So we began a conversation and he said that for sure Bob was a silky because they have all the markings of a Yorkie only bigger... SO I went home and did some research on Silkies and sure enough he does look like one but his weight is more...SO Im still confused! lol.. It doesnt really matter..Honestly it doesnt..I just wish when someone asks me what kind of dog he is, I knew.. Perhaps one day I really will have the dna testing done.. Regardless, Bob says hes happy that you all took him in like family! |

| I know how confused you are because I was the same way. Buddy is 15lbs now, gained 2lbs this past year, and I thought he might be a silky also even tho his papers state Yorkshire Terrier. I did some research as well but he is a Yorkie. I believe yours is also. The face on a silky is different. Longer snoot and the yorkie faces are much cuter, IMO. Even tho yours is bigger does not mean he is not a Yorkie. Just more to love. |

| Another characteristic of the Silky (other than the longer snout) is their eyes are closer together. I think my Kera (see avatar) definitely has some Silky. Your looks more like a Yorkie to me... But they are all so perfect!

| Thank you ...I think that he MUST be mostly Yorkie because I have to tell you that I want MORE...!! And it seems that anyone with a yorkie has to have more than one.. Soon as things settle a little more in my life Im definately getting another one! And I would imagine I will choose a rescue. We'll see. |

| He looks all yorkie to me. My groomer said My 11 lb yorkie was a silky too. He is all yorkie too. That is an assumption that is made often with the bigger yorkies

| Bleh... I never listen to what other people say. Hubby and I took Penny to a fish store with us a couple of years ago, and the owner said, "Oh, you have a Silky." I corrected him, and he acted like I was a moron. And Penny is even within the standard range, at 6.6 lbs. Two of her littermates are on the larger side. One is 9 lbs and the other was over 12 lbs last I knew. So you never know! |
