| Help Reading A Pedigree When I got Remi, I thought I was just getting a beautiful little yorkie to be a buddy for Roxy (and me ). When I got him, I had no clue he had a pedigree, let alone how to read one. I can read family trees, no problem, but I started researching Remi's family tree and if I am reading it right, he's a pup of much character. Carrie told me his grandpa was Renegade, more commonly know as Gator. OK, cute name, no clue. Remi's great-gr-gr-gr-grandpa is Rothby's Renee'gade, also know as Gator. There are alot of Jentre's and Clarkwyn's in his lineage. But my question is, both names appear on his both sides - mom's and dad's. Am I reading it right? I know there is alot involved in keeping the bloodlines intact. I found a ton of websites with the same lines and champions he has. I am also wondering how many furby's on YT might be related? Could we all be cousins? Any help would be appreciated. I would ask Carrie, but she just moved and has alot going on.

| I'd still like to compare names and see if any of our babies are related. I think you read it like a family tree. I know the champions are in red and their titles are listed. But I don't understand why the same names are on both sides unless it has something to do with keeping the line intact. But, if it were a human pedigree, it would be so EWWWWW! I do have a hilarious true story about how my husband ended up being my brother, too. Not to worry, no blood relations involved and it was all legal - just a fluke of marriages. Our daughter used to call him Uncle Daddy as a joke.

| Renegade and Rothby's Renegade could be two different Yorkies. Like Ryokos half brother is Iron Chef America and Iron Chef being Iron Chef Americans dad. The plain Iron Chef is of no relation to Ryoko. I guess Iron Chef America and Ryoko are half brothers... My point being I think you said one was Renegade and one was Rothby's Renegade, so maybe, just maybe its two different make Yorkies |

| Yes, they are 2 different dogs from 2 different kennels, but they are both on the sire's line and the dam's line in approx the same location (grandfather and 4-great grandfather. They are also from 2 different kennels and are spelled differently. The pedigree goes back 5 or 6 (maybe more) generations so I don't know how to post it. It is on a disc (spreadsheet) and printed out is about 30 - 40. I pages. I could probably email it. There are many champions, both American and Canadian and many are from the same kennel and are repeated in different spots. I have found alot of them on the internet. I am just stumped. I realize that if your great-great-great grandfather was George Washington and my g-g-g-grandfather was George Washington, then that makes us kissing cousing . Actually, if we all decended from Adam and Eve, we are all related. But I just want to be sure I understand how to read the pedigree. And to think I just got promoted to a high-level position that requires a tremendous amout of thought process. Boy, do I feel stupid .

| Don't feel stupid there hard to read. When I bred boxer's I just knew what lines to look for that I wanted in my line. The rest was just a bunch of names.

| Gator I had a "Gator" son and many offspring from him..and many others here have Rothby relatives... It is not uncommon to have the same lines in both sire and dam...all dogs have a pedigree, they had to come from some place..not the cabbage patch..LOL |

| Are you sure they don't come from the cabbage patch. That's what my mom always told me when I was little. Sort of like Cabbage Patch dolls.

| many people who have champion dogs will do linebreeding. it is very common with experienced show breeders. it is NOT a bad thing.

The only problem, aside from becoming a billionaire would be that all of these breeds would just become more popular - not a good thing.

| Hey, Cousin Renny! I did a quick look between the two and found 6 of the same champions in their lines. And I only did half of Renny's. On Remi's, I found many repetitions of the same name. Ther were alot of different Clarkwyns, Jentres, Rothbys, Shomars Checkmates and lot of others. Maybe we should have a Yorkie Reunion . The bottom line on Remi's excel worksheet pedigree is line 2032. There sure is alot of "begattin'" goin on. And from what I can see, Rothby's Renee' Gade has made many, many little girlie yorkies very happy . He seems to be all over the place. I am still trying to figure out if Renny fits somewhere in this pedigree. Where your's is limited to just Renny's individual line, mine includes all the aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts, great uncles and everybody else! My brain hurts.
