| glad to hear she is fine . choking dogs are one of the scarriest things. i was opening laceys heart worm and she snatched it out of my hand before i could break it up , she inhaled the whole thing and couldnt breath at all she started to pass out while we tried to get it out or down and finally got it to the point where she could cough to get it out but then foam was comming from her nose we called the vet rushed her in but by the time we got her ther it went down, he still did x-rays to ck for the rest of the night she kept coughing a bit and making strange noises but by the next day she was fine. the whole thing made me flash back to last sept when a baby that i sat for (human) died from strept and pulminary adema while at my house. if hubby hadnt of been there to help me with lacey i think i would have had anouther melt down.

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | Well i am happy to say i checked my mail and to my surprise i recieved a letter from Red Barn This is what it said (short version) They reviewed my claim and came to the conclusion that their product was not defective and they do not useually participate in vet payment however they are very sympathetic to the discomfort and distress me and my dog experianced so they are going to make an exception and pay part of my bill they sent me a check for $45.00 They also said that the possibility of this accident happining with any other round object is very real and they try to convey tha supervision is recommended when feeding any treat. They said they strive to create healthy and safe treats and they relieze that one treat may be perfect for one dog and not appropriate for another. They have now taken steps to include a statement on our bully stick labels indicating that supervision is suggested when feeding this treat. Well it's better than nothing and at least they are making an attempt to solve the issue. I will say i am very pleased to recieve the check but i haven't recieved the bully sticks they said they would send. I guess the money is better lol. Just remember to watch your babies and i do not recommend this bully stick for small dogs even with supervision because i was watching Peeka when it happened.

| Well I think it is pretty lame that they only sent 45.00. They should have paid the whole vet bill and be dang glad Peeka didnt die while eating their "treat". What is 85.00 to a large company like that. |

Peeka Boo I See You! Donating Member | I know but i'm not going to complain because the lady said when i talked to her that they would not pay anything at least i got something back. but i too think they should have paid the whole bill

| They have a lot of nerve. They could have sent you $1,000 and it wouldn't have hurt them financially. I told a friend who owns a pet store your story when I say these treats there. She said she wouldn't sell them to anyone with small dogs. As long as your baby is okay.....

| Well at least you got a response from them...and a check...and hopefully they will follow through and add that statement to the labels. And your warning with your very own experience, stated here on YT, may have easily saved thousands of Yorkies from going through what you and your little one did. Thank you for that, and I bet you do get those bully sticks...it just might take awhile!!!

| Every time I go into a store that sells those "treats" I tell them about Peeka. I would say that 0% have paid any attention to me whatsoever and just look at me like I'm some crazy "dog lady" - which, of course, I am (but not in this instance). And don't forget about the little round quarter sized jerky pieces that are sold and that my sweet Kalina almost died choking on!!! They're not any better and I got zero satisfaction from that company!!
