Since this is going to be my last post on this thread I would like to point out that most of the pickering was between the people actually looking for Zeke with a few (but very few) that were thought negative but really just another opinion. I hope and pray Zeke is in a good home getting lots of love.

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | What a long and emotional thread. I hope that Zeke will eventually be found. Seems fishy to me that a van was there and possibly dogs taken from the property. This person knows that you're on to them and is taking precautions to not be caught with the "goods". Good luck in your endeavors!

I couldn't agree with you more, as a matter of fact I and BettyAnn were very interested in getting puppy mills closed, and no one was interested! All anyone wanted to do was argue, about wheather to get a dog from a pet store or breeder, finally we both lost interest, It's sad, that is also why I was so concerned about the other dogs on the property, I wanted to make sure the lady got closed down and the dogs that were on her property were removed, they just let all those poor animals slip through their fingers. I suggested for a start, that everyone, that knew of a breeder in their area, that was advertising puppies, that someone in that area call the breeder and make an appoitment to see the puppies, it the conditions were not up to par, or the puppies or adults did not look healthy to turn them in to a rescue group or to the State or AKC, It's sad that thread just did not come together, it was one of the first thread's that I thought would make a difference, and I was sad no one really wanted to do a thing. If we had the kind of power here to get them closed down, it would make my life!!!!! Just going after them one at a time, it would have been so easy, as all you have to do is make a couple of complaints about the number of dogs on the property, and Animal Control has to check it out, if they find anything that they can see without enterting the property they will be turned in and a warrant can be issued to get the dogs removed. Sadly after all the time spent on this thread, the Modesto Police really did not care to do anything envolving a dog, they just did not care. It was so sad, the Grandmother did have several dogs on her property, illegal, they were not well cared for, and no one could get a search warrant and the police wanted nothing to do with the case. Animal Control is the middle man, if Animal Control is allowed in the house and conditions warrant, they can get the dogs on the spot. However most people will not answer the door if they see Animal Control out there, and their are soooooooooo many puppy mills that there are not enough people in charge to do a thing about it. The State is very short handed, so is AKC, and the rescue groups need Animal Control behind them, their are just not enough Animal Control's to handle things. Any ideas on your part would be very appreciated. It is a wonderful goal, and we have enough good hearted people on theis forum to make a difference!

| If you put yourself in Maureen's shoes (and I hope you never have the opportunity) and reading the demeaning remarks by a few who post to this thread, my heart would be broken even further. Please stop attacking each other and Maureen. Wouldn't you be desperate to identify your stolen pup, searching from a distance and hoping that Zeke is the one in the group? I would...the devastation she must feel is overwhelming. My suggestion is to leave this thread to the few who are actually involved in helping Maureen with her rescue efforts. Thank you. Deborah

| I will help with the puppy mills, I try last weekend at the flea market to warn people they were buying from a puppy mill, I was ask to leave. these are some rough looking people at these places, flea market owners do not care as long as they are paid for the space, as for as spca, they told me if they water and food in their cages their were nothing they could do, puppies look ok no hair misisng no mange so their hands were tie, we have just move to ms. so I don't what the law is here, I do know that they are still over run with dogs from the hurricane. the shelter here has been know to have parvo in their shelter. It seems that nobody really cares about the animals. |

| I personally do not think unprovoked bullying, harassing, and name calling PM's sent by others should be kept private. I do no think it is a violation of the bully/abuser's privacy to expose the content. Often people who act out via PM do so so they can hide behind the label of the "privacy". I liken PM bullying and the rule to keep it private to a batterer telling an abuse victim that they should keep the abuse to themselves and that they should put on long sleeve shirts so the bruises don't show. THREAD SUMMARY ABOUT ZEKE SEARCH Maureen got a lead that a neighbor was seen with a dog that looked like Zeke. When she interviewed the neighbor she thought it was suspicious that the dog was not there and that a child there saw Zeke's missing poster and said Zeke looked like his grandmother's dog "Tahoe". Maureen thought the child's father behaved strange when this happened. Using information about the neighbors house and cars, I found out where the grandmother lived. Maureen went there and thought she saw several yorkies in what she thought were bad conditions. Of those Yorkies only ONE could have been Zeke that she saw, but she could not be sure if it was him or not. Animal control and the police arrived and the conditions were not bad enough that they could enter the house and take any dogs or issue any citations. They could not help her check the one dog that looked like Zeke because no one was home and they would need a warrant without a consent search by the owner. Animal control went the next day hoping to catch someone home so that the yorkie that Maureen thought was hers could be scanned. Maureen would be contacted if any dogs there were removed who had a chip in them that matched Zekes chip. Maureen was not called. The next day, Maureen and I went to the house and knocked on the door. Two grandchildren let us in and we saw several mixed breed puppies form one litter, the mother of the puppies, not a yorkie and the father of the litter a yorkie. (I posted picutres of these animals) Maureen handled the animal and felt that it was not neutered. Based on this she knew it could not be Zeke. I asked one of the grandchildren what the dogs name was and he said "Tahoe". We therefore know that a dog named "Tahoe" who she thought could be Zeke lead her to this location, and a dog named "Tahoe" who she felt and handled was not Zeke. That means this house is a dead lead. I asked Maureen if it was possible that any other dog she had seen earlier could have been Zeke and she said no. There is a discrepancy between us as to the conditions of the animals we observed at the house and of whom pictures have been posted on this thread. Despite this discrepancy, the conditions are not such that animal control would take any of the dogs who remain there and are not Zeke. Last edited by Galatea; 08-12-2007 at 09:35 AM. |

Maureen was approached with a very generous offer from a member who is a reporter in another area of the country with affiliates in Maureen's area. They have each others contact information and have been in private communication.

Yorkieshadow. I do want to say I am sorry. I and Maureen were hurt by what you posted and when I posted about if anything would ever happen to your dogs That was wrong and when you are upset you say things that you would never ever say otherwise. This thread was started to Keep everyone positve. WHAT HAPPENED?????? Why can't everyone just stay focused and positive?? why post remarks about things that can hurt people?????
