I want to say this and hope it doesn't sound negative.... but I sure wish some of the energy and work spent to help this little guy was also devoted to getting some of these horrible Mills shut down - imagine what ya'll could do if you put your efforts into that ??? There's so many dogs out there needing saving

I couldn't agree with you more, as a matter of fact I and BettyAnn were very interested in getting puppy mills closed, and no one was interested! All anyone wanted to do was argue, about wheather to get a dog from a pet store or breeder, finally we both lost interest, It's sad, that is also why I was so concerned about the other dogs on the property, I wanted to make sure the lady got closed down and the dogs that were on her property were removed, they just let all those poor animals slip through their fingers.

I suggested for a start, that everyone, that knew of a breeder in their area, that was advertising puppies, that someone in that area call the breeder and make an appoitment to see the puppies, it the conditions were not up to par, or the puppies or adults did not look healthy to turn them in to a rescue group or to the State or AKC, It's sad that thread just did not come together, it was one of the first thread's that I thought would make a difference, and I was sad no one really wanted to do a thing.

If we had the kind of power here to get them closed down, it would make my life!!!!! Just going after them one at a time, it would have been so easy, as all you have to do is make a couple of complaints about the number of dogs on the property, and Animal Control has to check it out, if they find anything that they can see without enterting the property they will be turned in and a warrant can be issued to get the dogs removed.

Sadly after all the time spent on this thread, the Modesto Police really did not care to do anything envolving a dog, they just did not care. It was so sad, the Grandmother did have several dogs on her property, illegal, they were not well cared for, and no one could get a search warrant and the police wanted nothing to do with the case. Animal Control is the middle man, if Animal Control is allowed in the house and conditions warrant, they can get the dogs on the spot. However most people will not answer the door if they see Animal Control out there, and their are soooooooooo many puppy mills that there are not enough people in charge to do a thing about it. The State is very short handed, so is AKC, and the rescue groups need Animal Control behind them, their are just not enough Animal Control's to handle things.

Any ideas on your part would be very appreciated. It is a wonderful goal, and we have enough good hearted people on theis forum to make a difference!
