I had the EXACT question a few days ago about my 3.5lb 12wk old Yorkie female!! I originally wanted a "teacup" Yorkie but one of my friends that works at a vetnary hospital told my that the bigger Yorkies were a lot less fragile and less possibilities of getting sick:) Plus I have kids so a bigger Yorkie is better for our family:) |
1 Attachment(s) Ellington is about 13 pounds, and we have debated on here about whether he is yorkier, or a silky, or perhaps both. But he's pretty awesome how he is. |
He sure does have the yorkie colors, but he might be a mix with a oohh damnn cant member the breed but is like RUFOS the white dog that came out in the cartoon lol and even thi the standar size is 5-7 lbs, if u love ur boy and he loves u no matter how big or how he looks Nothing else should matter but to love eachother and have some fun together at the park lol :) hes cute |
Nice to see that others have the same concerns as me. I originally came to this site because of being told my wonderfully big yorkie was not a real yorkie too!! He is well over 10 lbs now (exact weight to be determined) and his ears are floppy (at 6 months of age I am not sure they will ever stand up) but I think he is adorable and is most definitely all yorkie attitude and personality. I wanted a bit smaller (was thinking 7lbs sounded perfect for carrying around when required) but I am very happy he is a bit bigger (like any parent we always love our kids no matter how they turn out lol). Monty is a proud member of the teapot club and wears his size proudly!!! |

There are loads of Yorkies in our area - and they all seem quite huge! Harry's the 'hugest' though :D He's just 2 years old, weighs 18lbs - and his ears don't stand up either.... But he's DEFINITELY all Yorkie - in every way :) Sally + Harry :aimeeyork x |
18 lbs. he is wonderful kid size. Just adorable |
he is so handsome and looks very healthy and happy |
Hopsin is huge!! 1 Attachment(s) Mine is a Yorkie/Pomeranian. He is now 1 years old and is 17.6 pounds!!! A beautiful, healthy and sturdy dog. And all big boy Yorkie! |
My female was 14.9 lbs and my male is 12.5 lbs. My yorkies aren't skinny like most show dogs. I love the bigger ones. The good thing about Yorkies is they are all different, size, color, coat, etc. They are like fingerprints. I am getting a puppy in July what should be on the smaller size. I wanted a smaller one to carry around (he will be probably 5-6 lbs). |
My Yorkie weighs 16lbs My Charlie weighs 16lbs. I used to worry about it but now I realize he was just meant to be bigger than the average yorkie. Lol, my vet told me "this little guy is going to be the "Shaq" of all yorkies when he grows up. His big paws (at 12 weeks old) gave it away. ;) Quote:

My Fribbitt is 15 pounds My Yorkie "Fribbitt" is 15 pouds and not fat at all. I'm tired of being told he can't be a purebred. His papers say he is and he has all the physical characteristics. We got him to love, not to show but we are tired if being told he is a mix. He is the best pet we have ever had. |
Don't worry about what others say. I have a 7 lb purebred Yorkie. He is a decent example of a Yorkie and the pets art groomers argue with me about if he is a Yorkie! Then I have 2 Yorkie mix puppies and people argue with me when I tell them they are Yorkie Mix and try to tell me they are purebred. I tell them that my friend owns the parents to them and they still argue with me. Some people just think they know everything. You know he is a Yorkie and that is what matters. Welcome to Yorkie Talk! |
My now past girl was 17Lbs as an adult. What I always heard was "I never saw a yorkie that big" or "she must be a silky". I didn't let what ppl said or thought bother me, her papers were AKC, she was sleek and beautiful and much loved and I miss her so much. I also had 3 other yorkies that weighed 9 Lbs and two were 13 Lbs, my adopted boy is 12 Lbs. I love the bigger yorkies, you can rough them up and not be afraid of hurting them, if I had a wee little one their feet would never touch the ground I would holding and smooching it up 24/7, I love the tiny ones, but prefer what I am use to, bigger lol. |
when I first brought Suzi home I questioned if she was even a yorkie, however she is full yorkie and weighs about 7-8 pounds. My shih tzu is 10 pounds and weighs more then her so I can only estimate how much Suzi weighs . |
