| Puppy anxiety? While on vacation last week, Molly (4 mos) stayed with a friend. This friend has 3 cocker spaniels. She loved to play and seemed to adjust well. She didn't eat as much, but did eat some and slept well. She's been at this friend's house before, and I can't imagine leaving her with anyone else if I can't be there for her. Since then, if I leave her gated in the bathroom while I'm fixing supper, or just to keep her safe while I can't keep an eye on her, she seem very anxious. Where she used to play and eat in there just fine, now she seems to sit in one place and sometimes looks like she's shaking. I don't want to feed any anxiety by rescuing her all the time with a "poor baby", but I would like to help her get past this. I've just tried to get her back on schedule, and checking in on her for a quick pet or play every few minutes when she's in there. Any other suggestions? Could she be missing the other dogs? She does try to play with our outdoor dogs and cat every time she can. Thanks! Carla |

| i do think she's lonely. did your friend let her roam the house? if she did, your baby has had a taste of freedom now and it's kinda like when you were kids! she spent the night at her friend's house and HER mom let's her do whatever she wants. now she's home and you're sooo controlling... hehe. maybe you could get her a pen to be able to see you when you're cooking. hope that helps! |

| Thanks...I did move her into the laundry room last night while I was in and out of the kitchen and she did seem a little better. I think she's also in the "terrible twos" right now, so she's a handful!! Carla |

| She had attention round the clock there and is probably looking for the same thing at home. Time to get another puppy.

| I have already suggested that to DH , but he said no . He was good enough to let me get one, so I think I have to stop there. He's not an indoor pet person, and has been a trooper so far with potty training, but I'm not pushing it. Carla |

| She might think she's being punished for something. If you have a playpen, you could put her in that while you're doing other things. She's probably gotten used to being at the other house and may not have been confined while there.

| I had a day off from work yesterday, so we spent a lot of time together and she seemed a little better. She still seems really timid around loud noises, or any unexpected noise for that matter. The gate I had put up in the bathroom fell a couple of times. Maybe that has made her a little skittish. I had just started with a bell for her potty training, so this new noise thing is not helping me there...ha! Thanks again for all of your suggestions. It's so nice to be able to come out here and get advice from other Yorkie lovers! Carla |
