				 | I can't find a good groomer in my area (Huntington, WV). I stay a nervous wreck the entire time Duke is getting groomed. The last person I had groom did an okay job on his body and did horrible on his face. The person before that (who I took him to several times and was wonderful the first few), sliced through his back pawpad and didn't even tell me about it. I picked up my dog and got blood all over my clothes. It was horrifying! And then she acted like it was no big deal and charged me $45 for it (she had charged me $30 two months before!). I threw the money at her, grabbed Duke's stuff, and left. I had the best groomer in the world for about a year, but then she took off to have a baby and never came back. I was thinking about trying PetSmart, but now that I've read this... of course, it's probably different store to store. Still does seem impersonal though. Sorry about your bad experience!

				 | Well the cut is starting to grow on me. I took some pictures last night but I was so tired I crashed before I could put them on the computer. Now that she's "lived" in it for awhile, it's not looking as bad. She just rolls and tumbles around anyway so it's not as noticeable when the lengths are totally different all over. When it's parted and combed down, that's when you can tell. Tonight I'll upload the pics!

				 | Finally pictures... You can kinda see how uneven the cut is. There are longer peices showing near her butt, and super super short peices on the back of her neck, completely unblended from the super long peices coming from the back of her head. Her tail I cut myself because it was left long and hanging down to her legs, and I also cut her face hair about 3 inches shorter because it also wasn't touched. All they did on her face was trim her ears and shave her nose down. But when they shaved her nose I guess they didn't take notice of where it was shaved before, and on just one side they went down too far and cut off her whiskers!

				 | sorry you had a bad experience. i was going to take my baby to petsmart for grooming...i even set up an appointment, but they guy who was helping didnt make me feel very good about it. he wasnt friendly and didnt really seemed like he cared. so i didnt go to the appointment. roman has an appointment thurs with a groomer who seems like a dog lover and was very nice to him (it also helped that i got to see another dog being groomed there) so i hope all goes well! good luck in finding a good groomer

				 | she doesn't look bad! OMG- i had a HORRIBLE experience with one in texas- we used to take suki to a different petsmart who actually did a great job with her puppy cuts. well, we decided to get her hair cut while she was at doggie daycamp (goes twice a week-so spoiled!) anyways, the guy was really mean to my husband saying they didn't do puppy cuts and so my husband said just trim her up and keep her long. well, when i called around 5 to see if she was ready, they said, "um, were we supposed to shave her?" i completely wigged out and drove there about 90 miles an hour- he completely shaved her to the skin and didn't even bother to trim her front paws. thankfully her face was still normal (she was so scared, she wouldn't let him touch her face). she was so scared and was upset for days. i was sooooo pissed, i can't even remember what i said. the people still tried to make me pay- no way! the next day i went in to talk to the manager who gave me a free shirt for her- i was hoping a free month pass of day camp! to this day, she is terrified of groomers. freaking idiot! this happened on 4/26 and her hair is just getting back to normal, will be back in a few more months. ladies- learn from our stories- never take them to petsmart! i will post the pics later- i need to adjust the size.

				 | Oh wow, I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience! I have to say though, I have only ever taken Paddington to Petsmart, and I'm always satisfied. I've never gotten him cut, but I always see other yorkies there that come out looking fantastic,so I've been planning on just keeping them as my groomer. The last time I took him, the groomer even showed me how to make a bow that will stay in his hair, and explained to me why it was difficult for me to get a bow in. She showed me how to pull his hair up so that it isn't in his face, and told me to make sure I come to her when his hair is longer, so she can show me how to do a topknot. Everyone seemed so caring to all of the dogs, and they are very helpful with questions. Maybe the Petsmart here is just really careful to hire skilled groomers, but I really like taking Paddington there. I realize that it is probably the equivalent to me going to Best Cuts to get my hair done, but I'm not that picky- yet Maybe it is because I don't know enough to be picky LOL I'm not associated with them in any way, other than shopping there; I just wanted to relate that not all Petsmarts can be bad, because I've had nothing but good experiences with the one here! -O

				 | She doesnt look as bad as I pictured. I love the gray coloring...she's cute. I know how you feel though. They did the same thing to Izzy. Since her hair looks a little wavy it doesnt look as bad.

				 | Layla doesn't look horrible... can definitely tell she is very uneven though. You do have reason to be upset. Her colors are gorgeous! She and Duke have the same shades. I'm groomer picky, too. Duke usually starts out really short before I get him long (long for Duke), so his grows even. Oh, I went to PetSmart today... and I made sure to look at their grooming section and they have windows where you can see all the grooming... well, there were two groomers and five dogs and they kept just pulling the dog's legs up hard, being really rough... the dogs didn't look happy. One of them caught me watching and stopped until I walked away. Feeling guilty was she? Hmm...

				 | There is actually no certification to be a groomer right now - no liscense or anything. A person can take grooming classes and all but there really isn't any real certification. Unfortunately that means anyone can technically be a "groomer" and that's why there are so many bad ones out there.
