How do your get the hair straight?

Cali has a cottony coat that has a wavyness to it even with a professional grooming she is not ever real straight. Pixie has such straight hair that it never waves it just dries completley straight. I have the CC gold series pin brush and it is much nicer than the cheaper ones. It seems to make the coat shinier I didn't think it helped with the wavyness. Blow drying it real thoroughly helps also.

Try this...My Maltese has a wavy, cottony coat. When I blow his hair dry, I brush the hair in the OPPOSITE direction of the way in grows. So instead of brushing downward, I brush the hair upward and it straightens his hair out beautifully. I don't use a pin brush on him either. I use a soft boar brush. It's a bit easier on his skin when I am brushing his coat while blowing him dry.

Ok imma try that for sure.
There is so much information in this forum, I have gone through it all and gotten confused so many times.... So what is good about a boar brush

For daily brushings I like the pin brush but for blowing my Maltese dry I find that the boar brush is just a bit gentler on his skin. It takes awhile to dry him because the cottony coats tend to be thicker so I want to make it as easy on him as I can. Also, the boar brush is great for human hair so I figure it's good for our furbabie's hair as well.

I hope this technique works for you. I would post pics before and after but I just gave Biscuit a bath yesterday morning so he won't be getting another one for another week or so. If I think of it, I'll take pics during his next bath.

Boar brush spreads natural skin oils over the whole length of a hair. Because hair come in closer contact with the bristles it gives also extra shine and it helps with dry hair. It is kind of natural moisturizing tool. It straightens (or slicks) very well. These brushes also pick up most dust and dirt from hair. I use it myself when I want my hair straight. Try to buy good quality with soft rubber pad. The best ones made by Mason Pearson but the are very expensive. I have one myself for over 6 years already and I swear by it. I use it sometimes on my furbaby and he just absolutely enjoys it. The drawback with boar brushes is that it should not be used on wet hair or with any styling treatments or it will desintegrate and bristles will fall off. It will still last a few years but won't last forever like metal pin brushes.

Thanks for the explaination of the boar brush. The one I have for Biscuit is not really expensive and I haven't had any problems with it disintigrating when I use it to blowdry Biscuit's wet hair but then again it only gets used about 3 times a month when I give him his bath.
