| Clumps of hair falling out- My 12 week old puppy has had several clumps of hair fall out. There are even some sparse areas on him from this. His hair is kind of matty in some places even with brushing. Is this normal? The exposed skin area does not appear reddened or no evidence of rash is noted. I was under the impression that Yorkies were not supposed to shed but this is not just shedding, it it actual clumps. Again, any help is appreciated!! | Yorkies do not shed, but they will lose their puppy hair and it is replaced with the silk permant coat. Your pup may be losing the puppyhair. True silk coated yorkies have a thinner coat than the cotton yorkies. Keep an eye on your pup, if he loses too much hair consult a vet. Loss of hair could also be a medical problem, but your pup is very young yet so it just may be normal. |

| well........ I've never experienced clumps coming out. A little bit of shedding as a puppy because of getting matured hair. I would call your vet. Doesn't sound right. |

| Yep...i agree with everybody, check this with your vet. Mojo had a few bald spots on his head a few months ago, the hair just fell, it actually looked like the hair was plucked, the skin was clean without 1 single scratch. After taking Mojo to the vet, we found out it was a little irritation, he was on medication for 1 week. The sooner you find out whats wrong the sooner this will stop |

| The only time Toto lost hair ... she was allergic to new carpet we had installed! She got medication, Repair for her coat and we had to have the carpet cleaned. She was back to normal in no time! But, I agree, time for a vet visit!

| i saw a yorkie who's fur was patchy and coming out... but she had mange, if there is no bumps or rash it shouldnt be mange though... so dont worry! I second everyone elses opinion of checking with youre vet, even if it is just to call and ask a few questions |
