| Socializing Hi all! As often as the weather allows, I take Eury to a nearby area where we walk and enjoy the grass. She loves it! Before today though when people came up to her she was very tolerating but quite nervous and not all that thrilled about it. Today we made a great breakthrough in socializing her! When peeps walked up to her, her little tail started to wag and she laid on her tummy and moved towards them wanting to be petted! She didn't show any of her normal nervousness including shaking. YAY! Peeps have asked me if we have socialized her with other dogs yet. Not yet. That makes me too nervous right now. She is only 1.8 lbs. She is great with the cats and when she sees other animals. No aggression at all, so I'm sure she'll be fine. What do ya'll think? I'm just so happy at her breakthrough with the peeps today.

| 1.8 pounds! That is tiny! I started Ana at puppy playgroup when she was 2 1/2 lbs. It's held every Saturday for about 45 minutes at a local veterinary hospital. I was nervous about her size when I first started her there, but she was fine AND she absolutely loves going. On top of socializing her, it completely tires her out and makes her nice and sleepy for the rest of the afternoon, which gives her mommy a break from hyper puppy.

| Wobie's still in the timid phase...he's 18 1/2 weeks old. Little dogs are different from big dogs in so many ways it astounds me. All my big dogs are dying to get petted and cuddled, while Wobie is perfectly happy to hide behind them to avoid people.

| Eury was around several other dogs today at a BBQ and was quite nervous as they were very interested in her. The good news is that she didn't act aggressively at all. YAY!

| Hyper hellos I was super lucky in that my little guy was never shy. He has been around people since he was tiny as I am constantly having people over. I guess he takes after his pappy in that we are both social. In fact, I put a beware of dog sign up, not because Lick is mean, but because he will attack them with kisses and constant attention until they pet him. Kids he is skittish around at first, but once they pet him gently he is fine. Animals on the other hand, he usually takes a submissive position to bigger dogs. With smaller dogs he goes crazy and jumps around so much he scares them. I am trying to train him to be calm, but he just goes nuts every time. Last edited by chris_e; 07-18-2007 at 12:23 AM. |
