This breeder sounds horrible! No reputable breeder would refuse to take back a 12 year old dog in this situation, much less a 12 week old one!

I'm sure you can find someone either here or on Maltese Talk that would foster him during this time. Or, if money is an issue, buy him.

Sorry about all you're going through. My prayers go out to your father.

Please don't put him in a shelter. There are different groups for different kinds of dogs that will find them a great home. Anyone can pick up a pup from the shelter, but these people really check you out, and make sure it's a good home. You could also post on the board that you're selling him. Maybe someone here would be interested.
