| Two puppies from another litter died (these are maltese puppies) when they were older after they had their first puppy shots. Another from this litter got very sick but recovered with vet care. What did the vet say was the cause of the sickness of the one that recovered? Just me but I wouldn't bring my babies until I know what's going on...

| As far as I know the vet didn't have an answer. One puppy that died was turned over to the company that made the vaccine for testing. She said it will take 2 weeks to find out if it was the vaccine. I think there is another week to go until results will be in.

| Were these new born Puppies? I have never heard of giving vac. to new borns. Usually at 5 weeks, but not new borns. Course different vets, different procedures. I would get an answer before you exposed your babies to these, just to be on the safe side.

| I am thinking it was the shots .I hope that is what caused it all. Man to loose all those poor pups. If it is the shoot will she go after the co for reimbursement? |

I thank you for all of your posts and I have been doing some serious thinking about this and cancelled the trip until we know more. I would never forgive myself if something happened to my babies that I could have prevented. All I was thinking about was being there for my friend and my head was cloudy as to what is best for my babies. I felt I just needed some feedback from fellow YTers to decide what to do. I'm glad I asked your advise. I feel so relieved now that I have decided to wait. Thanks to all for your responses.

| Yes I am sure she will do that. But what I am wondering is, since it is the vaccine company that is doing the testing, what are the chances that they find their vaccine to be at fault????

| Gosh.. could be a number of things... Was they kept warm enough..are the eating??? What shots is she giving to new born's????? The shots don't do a thing till after weaning..??? Sound's really odd to me.. If she's given the lst shot after weaning and they died it's the shots she gave them.. or the vet or who ever... You have to know what your doing when it comes to things that weigh in at ounces at birth and are sensitive to almost all products used and many other types of dogs.. So, sorry for her loss.. I in the last few yrs have only lost one pup and it was my fault.. Not paying attention. |

| Did the vaccine contain Lepto? Maltese are worse then Yorks for reactions to Lepto. I would stay home too... |
