| Fun activities for a dog getogether, need ideas Not sure if the title is right but.... The Terrier club in my Kennel Club is going to plan a fun meet together by the end of the summer, we are going to rent a medium big "house" (place like where you have the dogshows) and some cabins (little houses) and meet out in the country with our dogs. Have some fun activities and have a big dinner together etc. A fun weekend for Terrier owners. We will arrive on friday night, order some pizza maby and just chat and maby go for a walk. On saturday we will do something fun inside with the dogs and on sunday we will maby take a walk and go home in the afternoon. So the saturday is the day we have to plan. We donīt have many terriers here, only Yorkie, Silky Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Border Terrier and Cairn Terrier...and one Parson Russel Terrier and one Jack Russel Terrier. All small dogs. The only thing is that I need some ideas of what we can do for fun in the "big house" (what is that called, here in Iceland we use the house that horces use to practise in indoors....canīt remember the english word, in icelandic it means literally riding-palace ). The idea is for to do for ex: Agility (we have arranged to borrow the equipment) Dograce (people hold the dogs in one end of the house and the owners go to the other, then the dog is released and the owners call their dogs to them, the fastest dog can win a price) I need more fun games or competitions. Any ideas? We were planning to have a small dogshow and invite for ex. an icelandic judge to judge there but most of Terrier owners are not interested in shows so we want to do something that they will enjoy and want to come because of. I think it might also be fun to have some prizes, any ideas of what kind of prizes are good? Can anyone here help me with some ideas |

| I saw on Amazon, if you serch "yorkshire Terrier" a lot of cute stuff! Pens, Buisness card holders, Yorkie salt and pepper shakers! Way cute stuff! As far as games...maybe a doggy "easter egg hunt" Bake treats shaped like eggs or bones....hide them and let the doggies find them! It would be fun and a treat to them instantly!

| Some things we've done at doggie "pawties": "leave it" competition. Dogs and owners sit in a big circle. Paper plate is placed infront of each dog. Then the person running the show places food on each plate (something yummy), owner is allowed to give commands such as "leave it" or whatever works but cannot physically intervene. Food keeps being added (make it interesting)...last dog to eat wins. "Simon Says" Caller names a "trick", sit, down, rollover, etc... that dogs in group know. Owner gives command to their dog. "musical chairs" place hulahoops on the floor in a large circle. play music. owners walk dogs around outside of hoops (one less hoop than dog). when the music starts owners try to get their dog to sit inside a hoop (only one dog per hoop). Once all hoops are filled, the dog who is left over is out. "dog kissing contest" - do I really need to elaborate? "longest tail, shortest tail, tallest, whitest, biggest ears" etc...use your imagination and give out awards making sure everyone wins. Also, if it's going to be hot, it's nice to have some clean baby pools sitting around outside during outdoor events.

| Every year we go to the beach waterpark when they have their dog day. They have activities for the dogs. One they do is having dogs bob for hot dogs. They also have fetching contests and a fashion show

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I helped launch a dog show as part of our work's annual picnic a few years ago. I made little packs of doggie treats and a little toy for every entrant. As prizes, I had things like toy sets, toys, and PetSmart gift certificates. We also did a "Stupid Pet Tricks" competition. The goofier it was, the higher up it was in the rankings. |
