| We live in a house in a retirement community in Florida that allows only ONE pet (can't have both a dog and a cat) per household. And if your pet dies, they STRONGLY SUGGEST that you do NOT replace it. They enforce this rather rigidly, though they made an exception when a widow and widower here, each with one dog, fell in love and got married. They are the only house with TWO pets. There a lots of dog haters here, too. The lady two doors down accosts anyone who walks their dog past her house IN THE ROAD (allowed) and tells them NOT to come that way. She immediately runs out and washes the road with a bottle of bleach if your dog pees or poops in the road -- even though you have neatly picked everything up. I am almost at the point of laughing at her, but I really don't want to start a war. There are one or two who don't pick up poop, and they are ruining it for everyone. I pick up after them, just so Higgins doesn't get blamed. Now then, there is LOTS of poop lying around! We back up on a beautiful wildlife and nature preserve, some 80 miles of it and the wildlife is spectacular. Each day I watch otters play in our stream and roll around our backyard. The huge and numerous deer consider all the park's plantings and flowers their smorgasbord every night. The black bears are sneaky, but there is often bear scat on the lawns. And the BIG BIRDS! Ever seen Sandhill Crane poop? The hunting hawks and eagles leave pieces of rabbit all over the place (had a bunny leg on my carport). We have four beautiful wild turkeys, a really big Tom and his harem of three ladies, that walk all over the park. And there are many, many herons, egrets, anhingas, ducks, geese (messy!), and, alas, many venomous snakes and the occasional gator. THIS IS THE MOST FASCINATING PLACE I HAVE EVER LIVED! While no one feeds the wildlife, the critters know they are safe and are very tolerant of humans. It's like Animal Planet all the time! So we pick up the wild poop, too. Happy to do it. But I have often wanted to ask the many dog haters what they think of all that stuff lying around. I think my neighbor ought to wash the whole street, don't you? |

| Yes Happy Birthday and dont call yourself stupid because you cant decide which dogs to let go of if it comes down to that. That would be like deciding which kid to let go of if you couldnt keep them all. Hopefully nothing will come of it but I know how hard it is to get them to stop barking especially if there is more than one or two of them. |

| What a horrible position to be in. How could anyone make that decision 'cause they are family! I know when we lived in town it was a 3 animal limit and we had 5 including the cats. We lived there for almost 30 years and always had more than the law said but never got caught. Now we live in the country and only have Murfee but my daughter who lives with us has 2 cats and my son who lives on the property has 3 dogs, 2 horses, and 4 cats Good luck with whatever you decided to do. I think you should be okay with some of the dogs registered to other people anyway. Anyway...I'm so sorry that this happened to you, and on your birthday too!

| it sounds like your neighbor could be alot worse, nicer too but there are many neighbors who would've just called the police and reported you and not approached you at all so you are lucky in that respect that she at least gave you a warning. I think your husband is doing the right thing by making nice no matter how difficult that may be at times because I think it would make it a lot more difficult to turn you in if she likes you. I would bake some cookies and say thank you for being so understanding or I'm sorry if my dogs bothered you or something like that because as difficult as it might be you have to remember what is the most important thing? Keeping your babies. I hope everything works out for you!!! |
