| When does a Yorkie reach full size and other questions Hello to all you wise yorkie owners, being a newbie yorkie owner, can anyone tell me at what age yorkies reach full size? Also, my mum keeps pestering me to let my yorkie (Oscar) off his lead for a little freedom when I take him out for a walk, on the fields near my house. He is only 4 months old, I think this is too young and I don't know him well enough yet, plus he thinks "come" is an excuse for a chase game, what do you think? Finally, at what age should I take Oscar for a coat cut? I cut his fur on his bum regularly, I have tried to cut the fur around his eyes as it is restricting his vision slightly but he won't sit still and it is just too risky. How does everyone else manage or should I give this up as a bad job until he is older? Thank you all in advance.

| Everything I have read says that them reaching full size can vary. Alot of time they will reach their adult size at around 6 months or so, but that is not true for all dogs. My Abigail grew up until she was a year old, where Summer stopped growing probably around 6 months or so. There is a chart on here that can estimate the adult weight of your yorkie. It worked right on for Summer, but not Abigail because she is a little larger. I never kept my babies on leads when we are outdoors unless we are in a public place and not at home. They have always done well. Lola on the other hand has to be kept on a leash because she likes to run. I got her when she was a little over a year old. She is slowly getting to the point where she doesnt have to be kept on a leash. As far as the coat question I can't help, I keep my girls in full coats. Good luck!!
