I agree too. Sometimes before they turn 1 year old, they may de-trained; they seem to forgot everything they learn. It happenend to me a couple of times, and I had to go back to full-training mode for a few days.

It sure can be aggravating when they go in the house, I sure hope it gets resolved soon for ya....I don't know if this will help but I've read some things on this issue ( it may have been Ceaser M.) who said you can only reprimand them if you catch them IN the act of going or just SECONDS after because any longer than that they have no idea what your telling them no for...making him smell it does nothing for him, he doesn't connect smell = go outside........the other thing I read was when you take him out to go, only stay our for 10-15 min. no longer, bring him back in & crate for 10-15 min. take back out & try again, he claimed if you stay out for long periods of time he has no clue why he's out there, is it to play around , lay down, or go potty.... good luck hope this helps....

jp4 did all the typing for me that's about what I was going to say - you just need to be consistent and if you can - take him out every hour till he gets back in the 'training' mode. My Cheri will sneak a poop in the living room (the only room with carpet) especially when it rains - and I physically carry her outside.

I feel your pain and fustration. Maggie still has accidents. She is train to ring the bell if she needs to go out but she is lazy and sometimes too busy to bother. Then we go through the strict training mode for a couple of days, she gets it and will be good for a week two weeks before another accident. We've worked with a trainer too. We finally concluded that Maggie is going to do what she's going to do when she wants to do it. She is not afraid of anything. I get so mad sometimes and put her in her panty or diaper which she hates.

I agree with jp4m2 and redvett.... crate him if he doesn't go when you are out, then try again in a few. It's like having a little baby again, but it will be temporary. Phoebe is 14 months, and still has accidents, but mostly due to us getting distracted and not seeing when she needs to go. It IS frustrating, but if you had it done before, it will come back.

I could stand around in the yard and wait forever for Maxwell to go, but as soon as we go off the yard and down the road he will go. Almost like he doesn't want to go in "his yard" or "his territory" -- but off property. So now we go on a walk instead of waiting around for him to go. (I bag the little stuff it so neighbors don't get mad)

If he is not fixed, it is his instinct to mark...If it is happening all of a sudden when he was prior potty trained...He is just the right age when it starts and why people recommend that they be fixed before they learn this behavior, before 6 months. I would get him fixed as soon as possible or you'll always battle this.

Is he Fixed? Is he crated at all? Do you walk him at least twice a day for a half hour to 45 min.? Have you changed his food recently? When do you feed him? Does he get to eat any and all times of the day? Yorkies are used to a set routine and consistency is the key. They will always have accidents since they have small bladders. But it sounds more like a "Power Struggle", they love playing mind games too!

i know when i walk into the kitchen (he does it right by the door leading into the garage by the washer and dryer) when he had done something because he will hide and put his ears down so i got right to that same spot and look and there it is and i say skoshi and he will peek lol. i mean im not mean to his i just make him smell it and i say this is bad skoshi you have to go outside. he knows what outside is when i say it because he runs to the door.

your making him scared to potty so hes hiding it from you
your not watching him closely if he goes by the door to potty when he goes near the door take him out he must sniff by there
if you cant watch him closely get a xpen or cage
i really doubt your standing out there forhours it may feel like that
while your outthere keep telling him GO pee pee or poopy
when he does treat or praise him

no offense and i agree with what you say but i do stand out there for 30 mins to an hour i think i would know. like someone else said he started having this thing where we would have to walk for him to go potty. and i cant do that in the mornings because i work. i take him out like 3 times before i go to work and still like i said i come in and he goes straight to his spot and goes. The thing is i dont use a crate and never did. i slowly as he was getting better gave him more room to run. Im not making him scared because he has to know when he goes in the house that its not good. so i tell him that its bad and i take him outside. yes we do walk him everyday and its a long walk he usually gets tired before we get home lol. and then he is outside with us for most of the day that we are sitting in the garage. but still he could sit out there all day and we bring him in and he goes. I know how to potty train a dog. But hes just being difficult and i do say all that pee pee and poop stuff. Like i said i give him treats when he goes outside.

im not putting down what you are saying brownies mom but you are making it seem like im doing nothin. And apparently i am if he was fully trained at 6months never crated (thats watching him like a hawk) and now hes being stubborn. I think like other Yters said I need to just start over. So today while i was at work he went to the master bathroom. And when i stand outside for literally an hour and i come in im not thinking hey hes gonna go straight to the same spot and poop and pee. So yes i am watching him.

i answered some of your questions in the above post but yes he has dry food out all day but wont eat it till i come home and put chicken or ground beef in it. and me and him have always had the same routine and he just jumped out of it all of a sudden. I do think its A mind game lol. Ive tried changing his food but he wont eat anything. Like i said he has got to the point he wont poop for a whole day. I dont know if thats normal or not but im used to him going everyday because we were on a set schedule and he just jumped out of it.

You're not alone. Teddy marks everything too. I have peepee pads in the house for them to do both #1 and #2 but he will mark everything, pee on the pads when he feels like it and still poop outside the pads. He also poops outside when I walk him. London pees and poops on the pads. She is such a good girl. Boys are harder to train. I would like to know too how to start over with him

lol he wont mark anything in our house unless someone brings something in lol like my aunt came over to wash clothes and she had the laundry basket full of thanks the lord dirty clothes and he just hikes his leg up and marks it lol. but anything else he wont mark in the house lol.


but i have noticed that he marks the same exact spots outside over and over everytime he goes out. so that explains why he only pees and poops in this one spot in the house.

I read something recently...
If they have a certain spot they like to pee on in the house, set a little boobie trap. Put down double sided tape or a turned over knotted rug. Something they won't like to step on.
