Ready to bring home our new Yorkie puppy

Hello Everyone!

We picked out our new puppy and will be bringing it home in 3 days. On the day we pick up the puppy we have an appointment with the vet to check him out.

He will be 12 weeks old at 3lbs when we bring him home.

We also puppy proofed our house by buying a baby fence so that he will only be roaming around in our very small kitchen area. Picked up all of the items we deemed would be harmful for the puppy. Also, we will be crate training the puppy and using a pee pad for going number 1 & 2.

We have treats, toys, a nice soft bed, and bought Royal Canin puppy food for him. Also, we have nutri-cal on hand if any emergency was to arise.

I think we are ready.

We have read and researched extensively on the Yorkie breed. Even bought the book "Cesar's Way" that talks about the dog psychology.

We are ready to devote our time in training and loving the puppy.

So I have a question about something that I read in "Cesar's Way". It states we have to provide three things to our dog: Exercise, Disipline, and affection - all in that order.

Does this apply to Yorkies? I understand the discipline and affection part, but how much exercise to does a yorkie need? and since this is such a small breed dog, from what i read, they are prone to hypoglycemia.

Do they need to be walked everyday? 15minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour? How long? We are willing to devote as much time to exercise as possible, but don't want to over due it. Do we even need to walk the puppy at all?

I am a firm believer in walking with a dog, since it helps bond us together. I had a 13 inch beagle and we would take long walk together.
