| Jolie & Jen's 1st Space Shuttle Sonic Boom! Well, just about 3 minutes ago, our house was hit with the sonic "boom" from the space shuttle! The kids jumped and ran to the front door barking their heads off! Jazzie's been through several in the past years but the power of the sound waves always amazes me... "BOOM!" For those of you who hasn't experianced this - Imagine a car hitting your house everything just gets a huge jolt - "Boom!" - Car alarms goes off too.

| I'm so jealous! We just watched it on TV- it was supposed to land here and I LOVE the sonic boom so I was so dissapointed!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Just hearing about it on the Weather Channel. (Watching because we may or may not get some ugly storms in the next few hours.) That's very cool. Ozzie would be barking his butt off! |

The Space Shuttle and several military planes flies faster than the speed of sound. When they break the sound barrier it creates a sound wave that we can hear and feel. Amazing isn't it?

No Longer a Member | I just felt what sounded like a huge object being hit on the wall of the office twice: bump bump! Then Chloe started barking! I thought, I wonder if that was a sonic boom, or if the newly installed patio cover fell down. Since I was on the phone with Janet (yorkie3) at the time, I decided to see if anyone came in running and screaming that the patio cover fell down...they did not. Then I saw this thread and knew my first assumption was right! |
