| Opinions needed Oops! I posted this already, but in the wrong forum. Can anyone tell me what kind of coat Uma has? Her eyes flash orange, she does not matt with a daily combing, and her hair always stays put. Some of the strands are very shiny, and some are thinner and fly away. I'd say an even mix of both types.

| A beautiful one! I will leave the "real" opinions to the experts. But I think she is beautiful! |

| She is just a little beauty! Her coat sounds and looks a lot like Sugar's coat. His is called a soft or modified coat from what I've read here.

| I think so too! I just don't know what kind of coat to say she has. Cotton, Modified, Hard, Soft, Silk, Wool, what do I call this coat?

| Would that be a combination of 2 or more types? Are soft and modified the same thing?

| My understanding is soft and modified are the same thing. A cotton coat mats like crazy so you can rule that out.

| She doesn't matt easily. The hair does not stay up when combed up, it just goes right back into place. If I mess it up intentionally she gives a shake and it is right back in place. Underneath there is a bit more of the softer thinner hair, up top it is getting thicker and stronger feeling strands. Could her coat be undergoing a change? She is now 9 mo. old

| I need to know the answer to this too... My yorkies have two very different coats. My now deceased and Mariposa both have the type of coat you are talking about. I had heard that it was a cotton coat. But it does not mat (unless after wearing garmets) but then combs out easy enough. Now Angel Baby, I 'thought' was a silky coat, but seems to have this 'under' stuff that REALLY matts! It's awful to the point that I am going to have to keep her cut short just to deal with it. So maybe she has the cotton and Mari has the silky??? I would appreciate help on this...thank you |
