| Lily used to bite a lot too. She's only 15 weeks and has stopped somewhat. When she starts I hurry and grab one of her toys so she knows she can't bite people. Someone also suggested banging a metal bowl, I tired that and it works but sometimes I can't get to it fast enough! I would just keep telling her NO. Goodluck!

| I completely understand what you're going through...my Tobi does the same thing too. What I find works is yelping and leaving the room for a few minutes (5-10 minutes), so that your pup knows that when they bite too hard, they'll lose their playmate. I found that helps me a bit to calm my pup down and to play nice.

| Yelping doesn't work with all puppies. Some get more wound up by it. A few ideas. Keep appropriate chew toys handy at all times. Encourage your pup to chew on them. Praise heavily when he does. When Joey was that age, I carried treats with me at all times. If he was quietly chewing on a toy, I'd tell him "Good boy. I'm so proud of you"; drop him and treat or 2, and then walk on. Remember that behavior that is reinforced will increase in frequency. When puppy tries to chew on you, substitute a chew toy that you have handy. If puppy bites hard enough to hurt, immediately break eye contact, say nothing to pup, and turn your back on him for 20-30 seconds. After that period, all is forgiven. Try again. Repeat as needed. In this way, he learns that overzealous teeth will lose him what he wants most - your attention. In addition to being sure that puppy has plenty to chew on, also be sure that puppy is getting enough exercise. Boredom often leads to troublesome behavior. Good luck!
