| ![]() Finding Missing Dog Dogs are one of the most intelligent animals and usually will find its way home from their senses of smell. But there are certain variables that could lead a dog to be lost or missing. These can include thieves, minor accident (such as being trapped, fallen down large drains, transported out the home area by accidents and etc), major accidents (such as begin hit by a car), straight run away and etc. It is therefore important to follow some strategic ways in finding a lost dog. Here is how: 1. Start searching around the home area – check around your own property, then surrounding neighbor's property (with their permission), and if there are parks, bush land, lake, creek, or river near your home check there as well. Dogs can become trapped inside sheds, closed inside trailers, entangled in wires under the home, dropped into wells, and even fallen into neighbor swimming pools. So don't neglect searching nearby. Ring and search all animal shelters and dog rescue groups (there may be more than one within your area) - It is very difficult to predict how far a lost dog can travel as there are too many variables such as the dog's temperament, environmental factors such as terrain and weather conditions, and etc. Even if the animal shelters or rescue group haven't got your dog, leave your contact detail just in case they find it later on. Putting up posters and distributing flyers in target area – When developing lost pet posters use bright, florescent poster board with bold clear writing (the use of markers is prefer but do not use water-soluble ones) so that pedestrians and drivers and see from a distant. Secure poster in places where people are going see, such as bus stops, shopping center's and community notice boards, power poles and etc. Placing an ad – This mean placing ads in your local paper, distant newspapers and "lost pet" websites in the "lost and found pet section". Also take notice of "found pet" ads, you never know, your dog might be in one of them. (Learn how to: Missing Pet Ad) . Among all these things, the most important thing to do is to understand your dog's temperament. We say this because different personality in dog will determine what they will do and where they will go. Let's have a look: Elderly, Disabled, and Small Dogs – these dogs are often recovered quickly as they usually end up within a few blocks from where they have escape. The best target search area will be within a mile radius of where it was lost, e.g. home. Friendly and Purebred Dogs – In broad, dogs who wagged their tails and readily go up to strangers for attention and purebred or rare breed dogs will be "rescued" much quicker than mixed breed dogs that often goes unnoticed. This is likely because, people see the value in the dog. They either want the dog to keep for themselves or they assume that such valuable dog must be lost and they'll stop to help to find its owner. Aggressive Dogs, Panicked Dogs, and Skittish/Shy Dogs – These dogs will be more difficult to capture and are at risk of traveling while they are lost. Dogs that fall under category will often run blindly and can travel for miles before intervention. When they eventually slow down they will often seek refuges in areas such as woody forest, creeks, cemeteries and etc. where they can avoid all human contact. |

| ![]() Oh.... we're all posting simultaneously - I see Maureen went with her son. How amazing is our little Cyber Village here....... it's like we're all leaning over our fences talking to each other, passing on ideas and well, anything that would bring Zeke home. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() It is nice and dark in the Pacific Northwest. Hopefully, Sherlock will accomplish her mission. Need to get up very early for offsite tomorrow, but this is more important than sleep.

| ![]() I REALLY think it's Zeke I hope she brings him home TONIGHT! OK so she knows the vacinity of the grandmothers house. I'd be there tomorrow morning bright and early. Great chance of catching the nabbing grandma taking him out for his morning potty. Where was Maureen going tonight back to the guys house or in the grannys neighborhood?

| ![]() Has Maureen said that Zeke is a barker, as most of us know...most Yorkies are? If she blows the whistle around these neighborhoods how many other dogs are going to start barking too???

Was Zeke trained to potty inside on pads or outside? I know my Winston HAS to potty outside, he'd explode before he went in the house. If Zeke's trained to go outside...you can bet your bottom dollar somebody will be taking him out...soon I hope!!!
