Well.....I'd wait to see how you do with this yorkie before considering another but yes - I think having 2 works to ease loneliness especially if you have one that's left alone much of the time.

Was this an impulse buy by any chance ?? It sounds like maybe you all weren't sure what to expect ...they aren't for everyone but if you feel this puppy isn't a good fit for you both then maybe a new home would be in his best interest.

The room is a good idea though....I'd def try that

I work long hours also. I got Otis a brother, and they definately keep each other company. I hope you don't give up on this pup. I bet with the advice you are receiving that you'll notice a difference in no time. Good Luck.

All animals like my husband better. My cat is now his cat, same with the dog. I don't know what it is I think it's his laid back personality that gravitates everything towards him. At first I was very upset because the dog was supposed to be mine, now i just deal with it. Being the one to feed & potty the puppy with help it bond to you. Logan (my dog) does spend time with both of us now. I am the alpha, the displinary. He listens to me & I can get him to do quite a bit. However, my husband is his buddy. He's who he prefers to play with & nap with. The dog will get more comfortable with you. Just try & relax & give it some time. If the dog is not being vicious towards you I see no reason to rehome it. Give it time, the puppy is young & scared & just seems more comfortable with your fiance. Perhaps it was only around women before so you are big & scary right now. It will get better.

The thing that catches my attention is how little you guys are home....they get very lonely being left alone....but having 2 doesn't take away from the attention you can give one....it actually gives the dog someone to hang out with - my girls are attached at the hip and would be so miserable if not together all the time but as you said - you aren't really home that much so IF I were to offer advise I'd say not to get another just for that reason.

Mine is attached at the hip, too. In fact, she's here at the office with me!
