Well.....I'd wait to see how you do with this yorkie before considering another but yes - I think having 2 works to ease loneliness especially if you have one that's left alone much of the time.
Was this an impulse buy by any chance ?? It sounds like maybe you all weren't sure what to expect ...they aren't for everyone but if you feel this puppy isn't a good fit for you both then maybe a new home would be in his best interest.
The room is a good idea though....I'd def try that
