| Just like children, you really can't protect them every minute. Don't beat yourself up, obviously Daisy doesn't blame you! I was an x-ray tech for 20 years, and I've seen breaks in the growth plate before. It does not mean that there is absolutly no hope, honest! She could go on to be just fine. She sounds like a tough little cookie, and you are probably hurting more than she is right now! With all of her YT friends praying for her I'm sure she'll be ok!

I do not think this is going to hold her back to much as she has so much spirit. Every night around 10pm she runs around the house like a banshee, playing and barking and having fun. The night it happened she just cuddled, it was sad not to see her playing as she always does. But last night she was almost back to her old self running around and playing, three-legged. It was hard to try and get her to take it easy. Thanks so much Teri88 Last edited by Breeze; 06-07-2005 at 08:36 AM. | |

| Awwwww, Sweetie. Your baby is gonna be just fine. When Jesse was 10 months old a kid broke the cardinal rule in my house, which is "ALL FOUR ON THE FLOOR!" no exceptions. He was 10 years old and knew when I looked at him and he had Jesse only about 6 inches off the floor and let him go. Same outcome...broken joint with possible growth plate involvement. I realized that day that there is an advantage to having a LITTLE dog..even if their paw grows all wonky, they are short and there is not much deformity..Take care of both of you and keep us posted.. |

| OH! We will certainly pray today that everything went okay! Time is the healer! This happened to my son when he was in fifth grade. He was in a growing phase, and they never knew if the leg would be the same size as the other or not. He came out fine. So, I have hope for your baby! My brother's dog was hit by a car and lost his leg, and you would not believe lhow fast he can run and jump with three legs! I don't think he knows he is missing a leg! It's amazing! At any rate, good luck and know we are praying for her. I don't let anyone hold Snoodles unless they sit on the floor! It is a hard rule to enforce, but I do anyway! The people in the stores always want to hhold her and I just say, NO! She is too wiggly. People just don't understand the consequences of their acts. I am so glad your friend is still your friend and is paying the bills. That is truly a friend! I'm sure she feels awful! LET us know! Pat Last edited by mybirdys2003; 06-07-2005 at 09:04 AM. | We have had 3 broken legs over the years around here...all healed well. When I hear about a bad result it is usually with a cast too tight or not waiting lone enough for a healing..one of my girls took 5 months. Pinch the toes everyday to make sure the circulation is good. Check for swelling..good luck |

| Yorkie Rose, I love to hear the about the stories that turn out well, thanks for sharing. Also for your tips about her foot and cast. I can go and see Daisy in an hour, I called the vet and his assistant said they had to put her in full anesthesia to try to reduce her pain while setting her leg. Her leg is now in a cast and she is very groggy and sleepy but seems to be doing well. I will be leaving soon to see her and if she is able to come home. I will keep you all updated. All your prayers are working great! |

| Daisy is now home and resting. When I picked her up she looked better than I thought she would, giving me lots of wags and kisses, I was expecting a drowsy, sleepy puppy. She is in a bit of pain as she is having a hard time getting used to the cast. When she moves around it catches, and hurts her. She has now been sleeping for about 2 hours. I'm so proud of my brave girl. Here are a couple pics. Last edited by Breeze; 06-07-2005 at 05:24 PM. |

| As YorkieRose said,, time is the great healer!! Jesse was so sad looking every time we changed his cast. His cast had to be changed on the anniversary of 9-11 and I had them put a red, white and blue one on him. It was too long and I had to take him back and get a smaller one!! He was okay in 7 weeks.. |
