| i totaly agree. Snuggles and Snitch came from S&V Qulaity Pups ( which i cant figure out if they are breeders or if they classify as a pet store?), and Spryo was from a pet store in the Pailsades mall in West Nyack, NY. He was 5 months old and they were selling him for $500. becasue he was too old!, and they were giving him 2 weeks and and if he didnt sell then they would hand him to a shelter. I dont know if they told me that to get me to buy him but i didnt want to chance it. I love him dearly and he is quite a character. I did have my share of health problems , eye infections, kenneal cough, irritated skin, and we are thinking that he may have been froma puppymill because of some stuff on his paper work.

| My yorkie came from a breeder but my husky came from a pet store. I didnt buy him from there I bought him from someone else. He is now 10 years old! AMAZING personality, and so healthy. He has been the best dog in the world. Not only that but her is gorgeous. I took him to a dog show and everone thought he should be in the ring. Anyways, I know it is taboo to get your dog from a pet store but as long as you are happy and your dog is healthy, who cares..... |

| Needless to say, my yorkie came from a breeder. The choice is simple to me: rescue or breeder, I would never buy a puppy from a petstore.

| Like I said I didnt purchase him from the pet store that is where he came from. I dont think I am giving any dog a jail sentence by saying what I said. I am glad that I have my husky and I am in no way encouraging anyone from buying from a pet store but I dont think people should put down for doing it. |

| pet store pup We got our Lacy from a breeder also. The woman only had two for sale and it was the 1st time she had bred them. My sister-in-law got her little yorkie from a Pet Store. I wouldn't buy a puppy from a pet store but many people have and get great pets. Nikki and Lacy Quote:

That is the thing with a lot of pups bought from a pet store. Many are from sub-standard environments and not being kept well. Their immune systems just aren't the same. I know a lady I used to do business with. She bought a lot of fleece coats off me. I thought that she was just selling them to make a profit. Later on I realized that she was keeping many of them for her MANY dogs that she bred outside. She lives about 4 hours north from me and it is VERY cold here in the winter and she had pomeranians, toy poodles, westies, pugs, yorkies, chihuahuas etc. I know for a fact that she was selling to pet stores. There aren't too many people that care about where the puppies go that would take them to a pet store. That is why people often wonder where puppies from pet stores really come from. I certainly don't think anyone should be put down for getting a pup from a pet shop. I just figure that at least the end result is that the pup found a good home and is obviously loved now. I know for a fact that if Lacy was from a store I wouldn't love her any less. Nikki and Lacy __________________

| Nobody is putting anyone down for getting a dog at a petstore. Many of us bought from a petstore before we knew any better. The puppies aren't less deserving just because they come from a pet store. I had a dog that was given to me, purchased from a petstore who I loved dearly...He died at the age of 3 due to a congenital disease...I wasn't one of the lucky ones, and at that point, I had no idea what a puppymill was. The point that some members are trying to make is now that people know the awful places that those puppies come from, they wouldn't give anymore money to petstores. Yes, the puppies can be healthy and all that, but think about their parents...The misery that they're living everyday being stuffed in cages on top of each other in feces and who knows what else. And the longer we continue to buy from petstores, the longer those puppymills will stay in business. All dogs are deserving of homes regardless of where they come from. Every living being deserves love and a good home.

| my lab I got from my cousin Mike. He has both parents still. Bella I got from a breeder. A rather shifty breeder. But I had love at first sight with her. There was no way I could have left her there. I'll be more careful with my next one but I wouldn't trade Bella for anything.

| Rocco came from a breeder, Sissy came from a petstore.Funny thing is she is well adjusted,healthy...compared to Rocco. I would buy from a pet sore again without hesitation. Not all dogs at petsores are from PM. |

| Well, it turns out Uma came from a Broker. She represented herself to me as the breeder, and she represented herself to the actual breeder as another breeder. This Broker messed up all the paper work so the actual breeder and myself are going through a nightmare of AKC tests to get it all straightened out. Not only did she mess up the paper work , but according to the actual breeder she forged her name!!!!!! I am very afraid to ever purchase another puppy, although I do want another girl because Juju is getting older and Uma will need a playmate. Oh, meanwhile this broker is not communicating with me or the breeder. How ever it turns out, i will do my utmost to put an end to her shenanigins.

| I just realized that this might have sounded bad, like I was critisizing people who have purchased puppies from petstores. I'm not critisizing anyone, I'm just stating the fact that when you buy a dog from a pet store that gets their dogs from puppymills, you support puppymills. I just think it should be a learning experience, once you know about the truth of puppymills, you shouldn't support them anymore...

| I got Bentley from a pet store, Emma from a couple that bred their two different breed dogs, Tallulah from a kennel, and Kenzie from a breeder. I can't stop myself from going into pet stores, it's so hard for me. I just want to go in and free them all.. then go free their mommy and daddy's from the breeding life. But I can't I donate to puppy mill rescue and help out w/transports very frequently.. so that makes me feel like I'm helping a bit. |
