Did you get your puppy from a breeder or pet store? I know this question is taboo - but my puppy was given to me as a gift from my husband and I'm sure it was from a pet store - It seems as though everyone hates the "pet store" puppy - Makes me leary to tell people where he came from lol - Just wondering where your's came from.:animal36 |
Both of mine came from the same breeder |
lexi came from a pet store before i knew any better.... and i wouldnt trade her for the world.... i am very lucky |
Keely came from a breeder. |
My little girl came from a breeder. |
Got mine from a very wonderful breeder!! I wouldn't ever buy from a pet store they mistreat their puppies. |
Ozzie came from an "alleged" breeder. She was licensed and had the nice house when you drive up -- but a bunch of little sheds with cages out back that could have stood some major repairs. She would NOT let us go in the puppy room, although she did show us his parents. I did not want a dog. (We had put our 11.5-year-old Yorkie down the week before.) But then she hands me this puppy which I reluctantly took. And he's so cute. And he went from being totally hyper to totally content to just lay his head on my shoulder. And every time I would ask him if he was lovey, he would kiss me -- and it stole my heart.:) I knew there was no way I was leaving there without him. I will always think that we ransomed him rather than bought him. I went to different groups and agencies and tried all kinds of things to get this gal investigated. Everyone just looked the other way because she had a license. |
My two came from breeders. Luckily, I educated myself beforehand and knew pet stores were a no-no. |
OK, I am going to admit this in shame, I got my first two from a flea market which I will NEVER do again but at the time I was completley ignorant about how to buy a puppy. My last two I got from the funny farm! No really, I got the two of them at separate times from the same breeder but they are so dang funny that I always say they came from the funny farm. |
Codie and Tia came from pet stores and Cali from a breeder. |
Both from breeders. I would never buy from a pet store, they're puppy mill magnets. Maybe your hubby didn't know about this, but now he can, so I don't think poorly of you or he in the least. You still have an adorable little yorkie baby, right!? |
I don't think people are against the actual puppies in the petstore. It's the petstores we have a problem with...They keep puppymills in business. My yorkie we got from a so-called breeder who we later found out was a broker for puppymills :( And our maltese came from a wonderful show breeder. |
I'll just ditto what Yorkieluv said. It's not the puppy people hate, it's the petstore because the pups they sell come from puppymills and if you saw how commercial breeding facilities treat the breeder dogs and pups for that matter you'd understand why it is that the Petstore is hated so much. Go to www.puppymillrescue.com and you'll find a detailed description of what a puppymill is and you'll see first hand the moms and dads rescued from there. You'll see and read things that will give anyone with a heart nightmares. Elaine |
All mine are rescued little ones . |
Mine came from a pet store and I'm not afraid or ashamed to tell people. All dogs need and deserve a home. I had never heard of puppy mills before I came here. My little guy is the best and I wouldn't trade him for anything. |
