| Looking for opinions.. [F]We have been looking into adding a yorkie to our family for sometime now and I have been told by a couple of people that I should go with a male puppy. I have 3 labs and they are all females. I have never owned a male dog before. I have read alot about the issues that people have with male dogs. I have been told that the males are a more affectionate animal. Could someone help me make up my mind. Like I said I have never owned a male and the lifting of the leg really makes me nervous. Please help. [/FONT] |

| Male or female doesn't matter as long as you neuter/spay by 6 months Just pick the one that you fall in love with. If you get a male and neuter him, you shouldn't have to deal with the marking and humping and stuff. Also, females are known to mark and hump too. So seriously, just get the yorkie you fall in love with I have a male yorkie and he is just the sweetest thing in the world. And I have a female maltese, and she's super sweet too

| At first I wanted a female, because I wanted a "girlie girl" dog, but I wouldn't give my male up for anything! Yorkieluv is right, pick the dog that you fall in love with! Also, I don't think yorkie males tend to lift their leg, because they are so low to the ground they don't really need to. -O

| I had never had a male dog either. Snickers is 8 months old. He has been neutred. He does lift his leg when he potties outside, but not on anything. Just out in the open grass! Inside, when he potties on the floor (a daily habit!) he just squats. Never has lifted his leg on any furniture. Still loves to hump the side of his bed though. Don't know if that will ever stop.... He is very loving and very affectionate and I wouldn't trade him for the world - accidents and all!! Even my husband that "refused to have an indoor dog" kisses on him, feeds him off of his fork, and brags him up to everyone!!!
