| Take heart, Tiny is just the same at the moment he is a cross between a grumpy hormonal teenager and a toddler. He is teething and I think it's irritating him quite a bit because he won't eat his food he just wants to chew on my table, fingers, curtains - anything to help ease his mouth! I have one year old twins and I swear to god they are easier to look after than Tiny right now. I bought him a rope ball and we play football together, he can chase it and dig his teeth in which at the moment is a great relief for him! |

| awwwwww he's just being an energetic puppy! Are you able to take him outside and let him run around or take him for walks? If so, this will help with some of that energy he's got. Has he been neutered yet? That might calm him down a bit and at least stop the humping. The biting will improve once he's done teething, but in the meantime, make sure you provide him with lots of things he can chew on such as toys, flossies, bully sticks, etc. You can teach him not to bite by making a yelping sound like dogs do when they get hurt. It will get his attention, then you can tell him in a stern voice "NO!", but don't yell at him. I think yelling just upsets them and makes them confused and causes them to just keep biting. I used this method to teach Jake to stop biting and it worked. He rarely bites anymore at 10 mos. ...see? It DOES get better! I'm sorry he's not bringing you any joy. Try not to stress out about it and just keep telling yourself that it WILL get better. He's just a baby and all he needs is consistency in training. Make sure he gets lots of exercises, play fetch with him.....that usually wears them out. Try to hang in there! |

| I hope you can contact a dog trainer to work with you at home before you give up on him! There is a lot you can learn about convincing your dog that you are the boss--especially to a new dog owner like me! Also, are you walking him every day? It really makes a difference with my wild boy. Good luck! |

| Remember, rules, boundaries and limitations. Schedules, patience and persistence. All will make for a happy well balanced puppy. Don't give in, it's so worth it. He'll trust you like no other and he'll give you all the unconditional love you need. They're the best...

| you poor thing I agree with others. Good walks will do you both good. It's a lot like having a toddler and there are no guarantees -- it's worth the wait, but IF you have to find your little maniac another home, make sure it's someone who knows exactly what to expect and willing to go for it. We're going to puppy class AGAIN, because I enjoy it, but I think Maxwell needs it being an "only pup". How do you people do it with more than one????? |

| I felt the exact same frustrations when Brandi was a baby......I considered returning her......I had no clue how hyper yorkies could be......but I have to say......even though she sometimes takes more engery than I have.......she has calmed down considerably........she turned a year on 4/12/07.......I'm sure your baby will calm down too |

| I see you joined & got Cocoa in March. We got Max in Jan, he was born in Oct. Oh boy is he hyper. Misha our laid back Maltese is quite different. I could hold her from day one in my arms like a baby. Max, he wiggled & tried to get free. I just showed him I was the Alpha. A little each day I would place him on his back on the floor & hold him down. He would squirm & try to free himself, but I was stronger. LOL He is now so submissive to me. I can hold him without squirming all over. Biting he never did, but Misha did. I would place a toy in her mouth every time she tried to bite. We now play & she will bite the toy, but never my fingers. Baby fur kids are all different, just takes time & patience. I did read a lot of books on puppies & training. I'm glad we got Max, he is such a companion for Piper our Morkie (yorkie & maltese mix). Piper is more Yorkie than Maltese. They run & play most of the day, while Misha will lay & want to cuddle with me. I still have to get on them sometimes, running so hard through the house. We do walk them, but they have a lot more energy than Misha. Hang in there, I do think it gets better.
