Chai came to me last week after I had given all the dogs a dried chicken treat. She was cryiing and pawing at her mouth and I knew she had a piece wedged in her mouth so I ran with her to my daughter's room and she reached in and dislodged it. I tell you Chai was going berserk! It is so scary. I am so afraid to give them anything but the tiniest treat now.

That is really scary and Im glad your baby is ok! I would agree about the rawhide treats too. Lucy was chewing one and had nearly finished. She got to the last bit and it just vanished. She started heaving, I grabbed her and opened her mouth and it was stuck at the back of her throat. I was so glad I was there so that I could pull it out, sometimes we just dont realise how dangerous our treats can be to our babies. I make sure she is well supervised now

WOW that is scary, I am so glad that I dont give mine rawhide. I get scared even if they were eating greenies which is why I dont give those either. They only get bullysticks because I know they can only chew on those without breaking pieces off, that is so scary Im SO glad that she is ok.

When we were discussing those chews as recommended by the vet, might have been another forum, I decided not to post a warning against them. Seems I am always telling the bad things that can and have happened and I keep saying I am not trying to second guess someone's vet. But, now I will speak out--these tiny younguns we call YORKIES are not equiped to handle the kinds of chews many breeds can.. NO MATTER HOW SMALL we make them. A few years back I had to use wire-cutters to cut a piece of greenies into pieces small enough to take out of one of my adults mouth. The piece got stuck on the furtherest back teeth. I could not open the mouth to get it out so I had to cut it out.
