pet insurance?

Wow, this has been a helpful thread. I've been thinking more and more about it but haven't heard from anyone who had it. The testimonials here put me over the top! Thanks.

I have Cali and Pixie on VPI and have been very happy with it. They do not cover preexisting and genetic illnesses, but even with them excluding Cali's liver shunt charges and hypoglycemia we still got I think about 1200.00 back on a 2800.00 bill. I have submitted at least 5 claims on Cali and got some reimbursment on all. I am still way ahead of the amount I paid in premium versus reimbursement. So I think it is well worth it. I have never had to use it for Pixie Thank God! But if we have an accident or serious illness I can rest easy that she is covered. Maya does not have it and now that she has so many illnesses I wish I had gotten it for her years ago.

She's on VPI. They covered her, just not her knees (but those are covered under PetLand's 1 year warranty) and not her collapsing trachea. Though honestly, they wouldn't have covered those anyway since they're heredetary, so what difference did it make excluding them? LOL Silly people.
