I, too, have heard about the match thing. Something about the sulfur makes them poop. I don't even think we HAVE a match book here. *sigh*
If he is fine while by himself I would just let him rest for a while. He could just have a BAD tummy ache!! Get better little one!!!

Hubby just said that the vet didn't tell me to stick something up there so I shouldn't......UGH!!!!!!!

If Hobbs was a horse, all you would have to do is to load him on a horse trailer and HE WOULD POOP! :lol tears

I've never heard of the match stick thing, but I am going to tuck that idea away for future reference. It makes sense that he would use his pooper muscles to expell the offending foreign object sticking out his pooper place.

Hobbs, I know this isn't funny, I'm sending you hugs :ghug:

So, the general consensus is that Hobbs is still constipated and that I REALLY don't have anything to worry about, right?!

I'd try to get him to drink water and just watch him for awhile, give the stool softener a chance to start working. Sometimes when they first start working, they do cause a bit of discomfort. Once he goes, he will feel much better. As long as the vet didn't think there's any possible bowel obstruction, he should be okay.

yeah just wait a little longer. he'll poop soon. if he doesn't poop before bed try giving him the canned pumpkin

Thanks! He drank a ton of water when he got home from the vet and he's been napping ever since. Now he's sitting in my hubby's lap shaking. I think I'll take him on a SHORT walk just to try to get him to poop.

No because when I got home from the vet I asked my hubby if he was SURE Hobbs didn't get into the onions (bc hubby was the one cutting them up) and he said, "Well, I thought he didn't eat any but he might have eaten one or two that I didn't see." UGH! MEN!!!!!!!!!

I just wondered because I was reading about onions and dogs, but the symptoms don't sound the same as Hobbs'.

I copied this from the Health and Diet section on YT:

Onions/Garlic:
Onions and garlic contain the toxic ingredient thiosulphate. Onions are more of a danger.

Pets affected by onion toxicity will develop haemolytic anaemia, where the pet’s red blood cells burst while circulating in its body. Symptoms include Hemolytic Anemia, labored breathing, liver damage, vomiting, diarrhea, discolored urine.

The poisoning occurs a few days after the pet has eaten the onion. All forms of onion can be a problem including dehydrated onions, raw onions, cooked onions and table scraps containing cooked onions and/or garlic. Left over pizza, Chinese dishes and commercial baby food containing onion, sometimes fed as a supplement to young pets, can cause illness.

While garlic also contains the toxic ingredient thiosulphate, it seems that garlic is less toxic and large amounts would need to be eaten to cause illness.

Thank SO MUCH for posting that. He's not vomiting and definately not having diarrhea.

I'm 'bout to take my little one on a short walk. I'll let you know how it goes.

You're welcome! A walk is a good idea. Maybe it'll help Hobbs poop and will help mommy calm down a little. I know you must be SO worried! He'll be okay.:)
