muffie can swim very well and for a very long time. i think i can get her a vest and this way, her head will be way above the water so that she doesn't take any water in. but i will ask my vet first |
I don't have a pool but I take my cocker spaniel swimming. I noticed that she does take in alot of water. In fact, we jumped in, her head would go under for a few seconds. And she was so scared of the water because she was taking in way too much water and she seemed to have trouble keeping her head above water, it was alot of work for her. She would wanted to be everywhere that I was so she would swim just a couple feet and then cling on to me for dear life. So I bought her a life jacket, and boy what a difference it makes. It keeps her head above water and now she just loves swimming, as long as she has her life jacket on though. I was shocked the difference a life jacket made, you can just tell how much it changed things for her, it gave her a new perspective on swimming. Cockers are suppose to be good swimmers so I never thought she would need a life jacket, but I am so glad I got her one!!
