| Is suffocation possible???? OKay, this might be a really stupid question, but just to make me feel better, I would like to know if your yorkie burrows under the covers at night like mine does? If so, is there any way they can suffocate under there while they are sleeping? I have no clue why Tobey likes it so much, if we try to pull him out, he just runs right back under them as soon as he finds an access point!

| I believe this question has been answered before, and from what I remember, it would be a VERY rare occurance that a dog would suffocate under the covers. As long as he is able to get out whenever he wants to, he will not suffocate. I think a lot of yorkies do this, its part of their burrowing instinct.

| My chihuahua always sleeps under the covers way down by our feet, my yorkie only sometimes likes to sleep under the covers. It made me extremely nervous for a very long time and I lost a lot of sleep over it but eventually gave in because that is where they are determined to sleep and they seem to be just fine and quite content under the covers.

| Mine both sleep under the covers - sometimes they get under an extra pillow I keep on the bed They do fine. I know that months ago, someone on the board had a baby who was found dead under the covers - but I really think that something else was wrong with him - I do not think that he suffocated.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | We had a chihuahua that slept at the foot of our bed under the covers for years with no problems. We started letting Eddie do it, but then a YT Yorkie died under the covers. I stopped letting him do that right away. Here's the thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34893

| Jake sleeps right up against me, under the blankets. If he gets too warm, he'll come out and lay on top of the blankets for awhile. His face usually isn't covered when he burrows down....in fact, his little face is the only thing sticking out lol. |

| Don't try this at home: I sleep on my tummy & Sunnie sleeps under my pillow & Rocky sleeps under my...uh....chest. It's amazing he's still alive. I wake up in the morning and sometimes he's in my shirt under me.

| Conner starts out under the covers near our feet, but gradually moves up near my leg. He stays under all night.

| I don't let Maddie do it because I am scared of her suffocating. But if you do decide to let yours do it, maybe you could untuck all the covers at the bottom of the bed so that they can get out if they have to. |

| I used to have a chihuah, she loved to sleep under the covers, I asked the vet about it. He said she would not suffocate, they come out if they need to. She never did. |
