| Welcome to YT! I'm sure you'll get a nice list from some people..... I just wanted to say "don't forget the Nutrical"! Tatum's breeder gave us a tube of it. I had no idea it was needed until she did that. Good luck and congrats on your new baby!

| the day i bought anna my yorkie i bought a dog carrier, doggie clothes, treats, dog food i got the brand my breeder had been feeding her ive heard they ajust better if you atleast start with the food they are used to and if you want to change later mix it in slowly with waht you want to feed them, leash, collar(since have learned though that a harness is better). some of these things are not needed really like the dog carrier and clothesi went over board lol. you may also want to get a dog kennel/crate if you plan to kennel/crate train i chose not to, puppy pads if you plan to go that route. etc and the nurtical is a good idea as well especially for the smaller breed dogs. and if you are in for a long drive i drove 2 and a half hours their and then 2 and a half hours back to get my anna bring water and snacks. and yes the nutrical just incase. | Read up!! all I can say is read as much as you can about dogs, puppies, and most importantly Yorkies. This site has been AMAZINGLY helpful as I was also a new puppy mommy and wanted to do the best job ever when I got my little guy. He is now almost 5 months and I am really pleased with how well he is turning out. read about crate training for potty training. I recommend potty pads, mine goes on them on his own EVERY time... no accidents ever! but it was a pain to train him for almost 2 weeks straight when he was only 8 weeks old. Worth it though! I also did puppy classes at Petsmart to help with socialization. He now knows sit, down, leave it, come (most of the time), drop it, no, and uh ah. Expose him/her to EVERYTHING before he is 16 wks old. Hair dryers, vacuumes, riding in the car, being alone, loud noises, different people and dogs, and anything you can think of that he might be fearful of later in life because he will learn that all these things are okay and not to freak out about them. Good Luck!! let us know how it goes!! |
