| My dog doesn't bark to get attention, but he does bark when he is playing with his sister. Or with a toy like he just did as I was typing this. The only other time he barks is when he thinks he's protecting us. He's dead silent the rest of the time. If he were to ever develop a barking at everything habit, I would nip that in the bud real quick. I couldn't deal with it!

| Rio is a little barky, he barks at squirrels when someone is coming up the drive and when he wants something. He doesnt incessantly bark so it doesnt bother me at all. Besides I live in the country so the only one it bothers is me. Mignon has found her little voice but I have only heard her bark a handful of times so far. A barking dog doesnt bother me a yapper does tho. Btw Tara, your dogs arent your problem anyway, it is your barking bird LMAO |

| My girl Lucy has also started barking. But, she does it at our cats. She will not listen when I tell her not to do it. Do any of you have suggestions on how I can get her to stop barking at the cats? Thanks |

| My dogs bark at people when we take them out for walks. I really dont know what to do. They don't stop very well when we ask them to. Does anyone have any suggestions?? We are going to take them on walks more often to get them used to it.

| I thought she was mute I have only heard my Coco bark once or twice. She's 12 weeks old. For some reason she will growl and possible bark when I put my mascara on. It's weird. But I usually look at her and acknowledge her when she does. Good thing I read this and realize that I should turn my back and ignore her when she does that. Thanks!

| Nobella- That is soooo weird that you said that about the mascara!!! I don't wear make-up unless I go out anywhere... so I think Tino has put it together that when he the mascara comes out that mommy leaves, so when I am getting ready to go anywhere and I'm putting my mascara on, he lays on the bathroom rug and cries!!!

| We just got lilly (a 6 month old yorkie) friday and she constantly barks at dogs i mean NON STOP! so after almost having a stroke from the stress of her noisy butt im looking into get a citronella collar. It dosent hurt them but just spits out a little citronella and they hate the smell and that teaches them to stop barking when needed. BUT lillies barking is so bad i think thats why the previous family gave her away well right now i am watchin my moms american eskimo and lilly wont stop barking at her so i put some pennies in a 20oz bottle and shake it everytime she barks uncontrollably at her but I dont know what we will do when we are out on walks or at pet stores... any advice will also help me. THANKS for this thread! |

| Have you ever watched the Dog Whisperer on Nat'l Geographic channel. He deals with the issue of the barking when taking walks alot. He says to make sure that you have a firm grip and to keep tension on the leash- don't let them lead you. You have to make sure that they are walking next to you and not walking you, so that your dog knows that you are the "pack leader" when you are walking them and that when they start to act like they are going to bark you have to make a light tug on the leash. Again you don't yell or make eye contact, you just put tension on the leash to ge their attention. I am addicted to this show!!! He is amazing!!! You should watch it!!!
