| Lost personality I recently went on vacation for a week and left Illy with my friend. She has a pom so she knows how to take care of little dogs. When I got home I was expecting to have my normal little girl back. She doesn't act like the same dog at all. I don't know what is wrong with her. She won't play, jump up on the furniture, and runs away from me when I try to pet her or pick her up. All she does is mope around. I don't know what to do. She seems so depressed. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I've been home for a week now and there has been no improvement.

| I've never experienced anything quite that extreme. But, Ginger can be quite moody. I've learned with her, the less I press her the quicker she's back to her old happy self. Also, don't rule out illness. The timing may just be coincidence. These little ones can act really strange when they don't feel well. I'd definitely schedule an appt. with your vet.

| Maybe she misses the pom. I took my little guy to Florida with me to visit my Mom and Dad. They have a yorkie also. Conner seemed depressed when we got home, and I think it was because he missed Liberty (their yorkie). They would play together, sleep together and get into trouble together. When he came home, he slept alot. It took him a couple of weeks to get back to normal. My mom and dad will be back home for the summer. Conner will have a whole summer to play with Liberty. Maybe you can take her to visit the pom and see what happens.

| I took her to the vet because she sometimes would yelp when I picked her up. The vet said her abdomin was definately bothering her but he didn't know what was wrong. He ran a bunch of tests and everything came back ok. That was probably it but I don't think her stomach is bothering her anymore and she is still acting this way. And from what I heard from my friend, Illy didn't like the pom at all. They didn't get along. I'm starting to get discouraged.

| poor you ....don't let on you know she is different, just lavish her with love, and if she's up to it, her favourate walks, and the odd treat.....if she doesn't improve, I would go back again to your vet for his advice ....the fact that she is so sad means either she is unwell/sore, or she has had a bad time and not liked it or has really suffered from separation anxiety. ....i have never left my 3 wee dogs, and have had to holiday in this country since i have got them.....they come too ! ....it's now 7 years since i have been abroad. good luck, and hope she improves soon....you must be worried sick ! | You might ask if your friend fed Illy anything other than her regular food or maybe she chewed a toy or got into something she shouldn't have. If the vet thought she had tummy upset I'd keep a close eye on her poo and make sure she's eating and drinking plenty of water. I'd just keep a very close eye on her, talk softly to her and give her some more time. Poor baby - hopefully she'll be her old self again soon!

| She might be missing your friend!! We lived at my mom's for a little while and when we moved, my yorkie was depressed for days almost a week because he had to leave my mom and her dog! But then he bounced back playful and fun as ever And a month later, we got Emma
