| Question for Vets or Vet Techs I took Summerlin to the vet for her last checkup on Monday, the 9th. Last night, the 12th, she started pooping blood. Nothing has changed - she is eating the same food, treats, and water - absolutely nothing different. This is my question - the vet supposedly did a fecal exam on Monday. If there was anything wrong with her, ie worms, etc, wouldn't it have shown up then? There is no way it can get bad enough for her to be pooping blood in three days, is there? I have taken a fecal sample by the vet's office this morning, and am waiting for them to call me with the results. Just as soon as I find out what they are, I will post them. I am just wondering if I should be concerned as to whether or not he really did a fecal on Monday. I have heard several bad things about this vet, but he is the only one in our town. I have already made arrangements for her to be spayed at a vet in a nearby town, I only took Summerlin back to this guy because she had been to him for all of her other shots. But now I'm worried.... what if he hasn't done everything he has said he has? Can anyone help or offer advice? Thanks in advance!!

| Okay, the vet just called. They said that it was an intestinal infection. How does a dog get an intestinal infection when nothing has changed? Does anyone know?

| Ok, I just called the vet again to ask what the infection was called - he didn't call it anything - just put down that it was an intestinal infection. The medicine he is giving her is ampheral (sp). Can anyone help?

| I went thru something similar recently but w/ my Golden. She isn't small but she is 11yrs. I thought she wasn't feeling well and told hubby she didn't eat (highly unusual) that was Monday..Tuesday same thing (I made a tentative vet apt for the next morning). I had a speaking engagement that night and dh called and said ginger had thrown up and peed on our leather chair (never done this b4). I came home at 9pm dh was in bed, so I let dogs outside. Ginger came in and had what looked like direaha on her tail so I took her in the shower w/ me I lifted her tail and it was all blood. I freaked out. Cleaned her up and penned her in the kitchen as now she was just resting. got up next day, big pool of blood on the floor w/ poo in it (like tar). I let her out she throws up and is crapping bright red blood all over my yard so I have snow with red all over. Call the vet, take her in, they run tests 200.00 some dollars later she has some intestinal thing (maybe she ate something outside?, they weren't sure). Started meds and three days later she was back to herself? Enought to scare the beggebers outa me for sure. Hope your little girl is feeling better soon. |

| I know what your saying on the Vet. It took me 4 vets to find a good one where I'm at. Thank goodness we have alot to choose from where I am at. Where in Fl are you? Hope Summerlin is better soon.

| I am in North Florida, almost near the state line. The town I live in has about 3,000 people total, so I am thinking about taking her to a vet in Valdosta, GA. I am hoping bigger town=better vet?
